I am back from New Orleans!

We had such a great time! It is nice to be able to get away and have some mommy and daddy time together. So Peaceful!

I will have a full report of my time, as soon as I get back into the swing of things.

Just as I get back to normal, now I have to pack for Disney Land! Oh yes! That is right around the corner, less than a month, I am so excited.

APART Style - Review

About Apart Style (From the Website)

A new brand of accessible luxury. A new voice in modern fashion.
This September 2010, discover what your style is made of. Modern. Effortlessly chic. And totally unique. Debuting September 2010, Apartstyle.com makes it possible for American women to discover what women overseas have known since 1977 (when Apart first launched)—that when it comes to fashion, you never have to sacrifice quality for stand-out style and craftsmanship.

Not just a clothing brand, but a style-conscious state-of-mind. A reminder that fashion should feel good and shopping should always be fun and empowering. Apart provides a new one-stop source for women who love contemporary fashion, trends and styling their own looks, but still need to dress for their everyday lives.

Apart Style has so many great items on their site, some of my favorites are:

I was lucky enough to be able to review the Black Zip Leggings:

Our black ankle-zip legging is easily the chicest little pant of the season. We love it with flats and a chic spring cardi.

Slim fit legging with ankle-zip detailing and elastic waistline.

Fabric Content: 2% Elastic, 98% Cotton Rain Twill
Measurement: 30 in inseam
Care: Machine Wash Warm; Do Not Dry

My Review:

Apartstyle.com is a new online fashion boutique. They have so many unique and wonderful clothing items on their site, they are fashionable yet functional.  I could wear them out on a date, or at the office. Anytime is good for Apart style. The site has a great selection of tops, pants, accessories and even bathing suits.

I was lucky enough to be able to review the black zip leggings. I love the way the leggings feel, they are a bit heavier than the leggings I am used to wearing, but they are still stretchy and can move with you. The zip up ankle is so great, it really brings me back to fashions when I was little, I was not old enough to have the zip up jeans (remember those) but I am so happy I am able to enjoy the style this time around. The leggings are offered in sizes 2 though 12, and they are true to size. So they have sizes to fit all kinds of shapes. I would recommend checking out Apart Style for great clothing, and great customer service!

My Review:

Most people probably spent their Memorial Day barbequing not me! I made lasagna. I know not a traditional Memorial Day meal, but I had a reason, I was sent a cheese making kit from New England Cheesemaking Supply Company (http://www.cheesemaking.com/.) Monday was the only time I could really devote to making the cheese, it’s not a complex process but it is a bit of a time hog.

I enlisted my husband to help, his job was simple stir the milk to make sure it doesn’t scold and watch the temperature; he did a bang up job!  From there I strained the curd from the whey put it into the cheese cloth and let it hand to strain some more. The hanging part was tricky, where the heck can I hang a bag of cheese? I had to turn on my MacGyver instincts and figure something out, I came up with tying it to a basting brush and hanging it over a large pot, it worked; my husband declared me a genius and gave me a high five.

The end result was a delicious 2 pounds of ricotta cheese; the taste was superb better than the prepackaged stuff and made my lasagna a home run. It really was satisfying to make something totally from scratch. Our next task is to make mozzarella, maybe homemade pizza? I’ll let you know. All in all for $24.95 you can make a lot of cheese, just about 30 times to be exact. So if you’re looking for something different to do, or just want to see what it’s like to make cheese pick up a kit and have at it. I’m glad I had the opportunity; it wasn’t nearly as hard or daunting as I had originally thought. We had a great time making the cheese and an even better time eating the fruits…..er cheeses of our labor.

My Review:

I work in an office and I have to dress a certain way. I’m always on the search for pants for work, and I have issues trying to find pants to fit my exact needs, I’m very picky. I had the chance to try a pair of pants from Go Free (http://www.gofreepants.com/) and was more than happy to try them.

These pants are designed to be undies optional, they’ve replaced the interior cross seam with a built in smooth cotton panel. I’ll take their word for it and not go commando. I was happy with my pants right from the start, they fit in the waist nicely, they were a little long I’m a petite and always have issues with length but that’s what seamstresses are for.

I received the business causal plaid and was happy with the look and feel of the pants, they’re comfortable and stylish. If you’re not near a seamstress you can have you pants hemmed for an additional $10.00, which is cheaper than my seamstress! If you’re looking for pants for work, dress or play check out Go Free they have a wonderful selection to fit all tastes and budgets.

Yes you will wonder "Why weren't women's pants always made this way?"

Swimspot - Review

Are you looking for a swimsuit for your child? Or for yourself, do you not know what size to get? Check out swimspot's new feature the fit specialist, this will help you find designer swimwear, little girls swimwear, and womens swimwear...

I was given the chance to have my daughter review a bathing suit from Swimspot.com

I chose this for her:

This functional and fashionable one piece swimsuit will have her in high style. With the Hurley logo appliqué,  side roughing detail  and the scoop back  Hurley Puerto Rico one piece will be her fast favorite.

My Review:

It’s feeling like the summer is here and we’re still in May, that means my daughter is on us about playing in the pool in our yard. She’s ever growing and her bathing suits from last year are too small for this

year, so when I had the chance to review a bathing suit from Swim Spot http://www.swimspot.com/) I jumped all over it. They have suits for both girls and women and a variety of top brands to choose from. I chose a hot pink and black Hurley one piece for my daughter or the Bret Hart bathing suit as my husband called it. He’s a big kid who still watches wrestling; I told you he was a geek.

It had to be a one piece because my husband won’t let my daughter wear a bikini, he’s old school that way and she needs to be covered. She will most certainly be the best dressed kid in her swim class this summer! It’s a great suit; it’s stylish, modern and covers everything that needs to be covered and most of all my daughter likes it. Like I said they have suits for girls and women that will accommodate any shape and size and fit within any budget. Shipping was quick and returns are pretty easy as well, if you need a suit don’t hesitate to visit Swim Spot they will have a suit for you.

Real Kids Shades Review (And a Giveaway)

About Real Kids shades (From the website)

Kids are at greater risk from UV rays According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, until they’re about 10 years old children are at an increased risk for permanent retinal damage from sunlight. Exposure to UVA and UVB rays can lead to eye disease, such as macular degeneration, which scientists now believe is a leading cause of blindness in adults.
Of course, some sunlight is good for everyone. Sunlight is one of our main sources of vitamin D. (It’s amazing what our bodies can do.) But just like sunburn on skin, too much sunlight causes sunburn of the eyes, a condition called photokeratitis. Extended exposure to the sun during childhood has been linked to cataracts in adults.
82% of parents encourage children to wear sunscreen, but only 32% do the same for sunglasses. It’s time to take seriously the health risk sunlight poses to our kids’ eyes.

Sun Protection: All Real Kids Shades provide 100% protection from UVA and UVB rays. Wrap-around frames minimize exposure to peripheral light.
Comfort: Real Kids Shades are comfortable, many with adjustable neoprene bands to keep them on kids’ heads, where they belong.
Durability: RKS lenses and frames are made from shatterproof polycarbonate. They’ll be outgrown before they’re broken.
Safety: Always lead-free, with no bisphenol-A and no phthalates.

My Review:

My daughter eyesight is so important to me, but is a pain in the butt when it comes to holding things, that’s why she’s gone through countless pairs of sunglasses in the past couple of years. She’s constantly losing them, and it’s frustrating when she’s complaining that the sun is in her eyes and I yell at her if she wouldn’t keep losing glasses she wouldn’t have this problem! Well it looks like I found her foil, sunglasses from Real Kids Shades (http://realkidshades.com/index.php) with a neck strap! Brilliant!

It’s important to protect your eyes from the UV rays from the sun and to be able to cut down on glare as well. The sunglasses that was sent to me and stylish and functional. They’ll keep the sun and all the bad UV rays out and with the strap on them she’ll have to lose hear head to lose those shades! These glasses really are top notch; they’re polarized, shatter proof, vented for breathability and resist fog and they only cost $19.99! My husband has spent more than $350.00 for a pair of polarized Oakley’s! To be able to get something of that quality for $19.99 is amazing. And the best thing of all is that my daughter loves them and wants to wear them. Thank god, no more fighting with her to wear them and when she takes them off the will be right there around her neck and won’t be left behind.

Miners Mix - Review

About Miners Mix (From the website)

We hope you enjoy these traditional mixes that contain no artificial ingredients, MSG, flavor enhancers, nor preservatives of
any kind. That's why we can confidently state that
"If it didn't exist in 1850, it ain't in here…"

Miner's Mix is located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in beautiful Mariposa County. From here, in the shadow of incredible
Yosemite National Park we work Shelby's old claim, while we package his mouthwatering spice mixes and rubs so that we
can offer these wonderful treasures to you. Take your taste buds back to 1850!

I had the great privilege to be able to review:

·         Miners Mix: Blazin Bean Dip
·         Miners Mix: BBQ Sauce Mix
·         Miners Mix: Maynard's Memphis BBQ Rub
·         Miners Mix: Carne Asada Marinade, Chorizo Mix
·         Miners Mix: OMG Garlic Bread
·         Miners Mix: Salmon Marinade
·         Miners Mix: Wholly Chipotle rub
·         Miners Mix: Poultry Rub
·         Miners Mix: OMG Garlic Seasoning & Rub
·         Miners Mix: Steak Rub
·         Miners Mix: BBQ Rub

My review:

We were recently sent a box of spices, rubs, mixes, and spreads for bread from Miners Mix (http://minersmix.com/index.html.) The recipes for these spices are over 162 years old and are authentic to the California Gold Rush time period. The recipes we’re the creation of Joshua Shelby who was a cook at a fancy St. Louis restaurant, in 1849 he heard tale of quick money in mining for gold and quickly headed west. He wasn’t much of a miner and reverted back to what he did best cook. The food the miners were eating then was bland and rather tasteless, Shelby turned everything around and used his special blends on the food and made his fortune by cooking.

My husband had the pleasure of choosing what spices and mixes we would use and what to use them on. His choices were the BBQ Sauce Mix, OMGarlic Cheese Bread Spread, Carne Asada Marinade & Chorizo Mix and Maynard’s Memphis BQ Rub. We’ll start with the OMGarlic Spread, we made something that we’ve made and had a million times garlic bread. We live in South Philly, garlic bread is a staple of dinner around here, how could this spread be better than what we’re used to? My husband said and I quote “This is the best garlic bread I’ve ever had!” It was perfect, it was just the right amounts of everything, the garlic weren’t over bearing and harsh like it can be and the overall taste was just off the hook. All you do is mix 1 cup of mayo with the entire contents of the mix bag and spread on bread and toast. It couldn’t have been easier! And my husband was correct in his assessment it really was fantastic and could and should be served in all 600 million Italian restaurants in Philly!
I was a little nervous about the Carne Asada & Chorizo Mix, I’ve never made anything like this before, I was going to make my own chorizo! That was a little nerve wracking! I made the chorizo to be used in a meat loaf, I followed the directions and voila! Chorizo. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, we’ve been trying to buy chorizo for months, we even went to a wholesale Mexican food center and they didn’t have it! Finding chorizo was a little like mining for gold, very unsuccessful! To accompany my meatloaf I made the BBQ sauce mix to spread on the top of the meatloaf for a nice glaze. Add the mix to ketchup, molasses and vinegar mix well and off you go. It was the perfect glaze for my meatloaf, between my husband and daughter the meatloaf sadly didn’t make it to the land of leftovers, it was demolished in 1 sitting!

Lastly, I used the Maynard’s Memphis BBQ rub on a steak, something I wasn’t too sure how to cook; we eat chicken mostly and only eat steak out so this was something out of my comfort zone. I rubbed the rub all over the steak trying to get a nice even coating and proceeded to cook it. I used the Gordon Ramsey technique and kept touching the middle of the steak until it felt right and it came out a perfect medium well. I like it well done, dead, fried, black, charred, not able to moo and my husband is happy with medium so getting the steak cooked somewhat to both our likings was great. My husband kept muttering this is perfect, this is perfect. The steak was a huge hit with him, the flavor of the rub was so good that you will ruin the taste by adding anything like steak sauce to it, eat it as is and you will enjoy it!

This was a fun review, we got to try out great rubs and mixes and I got a chance to make a few things that I’m not used to making and discovered that I’m a pretty good cook! These rubs are different from what you’ll find in stores, the smell of these spices and rubs is staggeringly good, you can smell them though the package and it’s intoxicating. Miners Mix is a big hit in my house and will be in yours too!

BBQ Meatloaf, I followed the directions for the carne asada, then added an egg, and a cup of breadcrumbs. I mixed it together and shaped it as a loaf and covered it in the BBQ sauce and baked at 350 for 60 minutes.

OMG Garlic Spread - Directions on package, I used a french loaf

Costume Discounters - Review

Do you know what your child wants to be for Halloween? Did you shop for the Halloween Costume yet?  I know Halloween may be a while away, but if your child knows what they want to be, you do not want to be stuck if the costume is not available when it is closer to Halloween.

Costume Discounters generously gave me the chance to let my daughter review a
Ariel Little Mermaid Child Costume. This costume is on clearance for $29.99 a great price!

My daughter loves to dress up, all the time. She is six years old and loves to pretend. We want to make sure she  has well made costumes to play and dress up in. Whether she is just playing dress up at home, or dressing up for Halloween. I want her to have a costume/dress up outfit that fits her, and is not a plastic piece of junk (Remember those plastic costumes that they had in the 80's boy were they hot and uncomfortable). When I buy a costume I want it to be versatile, and I want my daughter to be able to get good use out of it. With my daughter she loves to wear her princess costumes at the Disney Parks when we vacation, she wears them there and feels like a true princess. And in order to wear a costume all day at the parks it has to be a quality costume, and I am telling you this Ariel Costume is well made, and not cheap and flimsy.  She will surely be wearing Ariel in California, and she will look so cute!

The costumes I grew up are nothing like the costumes from Costume discounters.

Costume discounters has costumes for all ages, and sizes they even carry plus size costumes. They have a great selection of Disney Halloween costumes. Why not check them out, they have some great sales and discounts going on, and you can get you costume for any occasion now and beat the Halloween rush!

Costume Discounters offers same day shipping, you should get the costume quickly!

Why do people give me a hard time because I like Disney?

Why is it that we always have to explain to people that we’re going back to WDW? I hear “again?” Yes, yes again! And why not? In all of our trips we still haven’t done everything, and things evolve and change so often that even if you go every year you’ll have something new to see or do.

Living in Philadelphia we’re only 52 miles away from Atlantic City, 64 miles away from Ocean City and about 90 miles away from Wildwood, New Jersey. We’ve spent every summer of our lives going there and no one bats an eye when you say you’re going down the shore. But I say I’m going to WDW people roll their eyes. I’ve stopped telling my co-workers I’m going because I’m tired of the snickers, they don’t get it, it’s their loss. The Jersey shore is ok, it’s not like it used to be, but it’s ok for a day trip at best anymore. Disney World is a destination, it’s something to see and behold, it’s just pure and simple fun.  I just don’t get why people feel they need to poke fun at your vacation choice, it’s a personal choice and it’s not like I’m asking anyone to pay for it! Next time someone roll’s their eye’s at me or you when you tell them you’re going to WDW, pay no attention!

Just venting! Now back to your normal happy blogger :)

My Review:

We’ve gone to Disney World as a family 6 times, and all 6 times my daughter has had her picture taken next to her can. It’s the trash can on the right hand side of Cinderella’s castle, it’s fun to look at how much she’s grown in the course of the past 4 years. My husband has stated that even when she’s 35 if she’s in WDW with us she’s getting her picture taken by her can, it has become our tradition. I had the chance to have our very first traditional can picture made into a true keepsake.
Fracture (http://www.fractureme.com/) is an amazing company; they turn your digital pictures into HD art for your wall. It’s a vibrant, glossy “framed” picture. I call it “framed” because it’s mounted and ready to hang but not in the traditional sense, there isn’t a mat or a frame it’s all picture and it’s stunning.

The picture we sent them was from our old point and shoot and not the greatest quality picture, but this picture truly looks stunning. It looks as good as our LCD TV picture! And it truly comes ready to hang it has its own screw! That right there is a nice touch no need to have to search for a screw it’s right there for you.

I plan on having another picture or two printed from our trip to Disneyland, these prints make great gifts, they look like a million bucks but are super affordable prices range from $8.00 for an 8” (diagonal) print to $35.00 for an 18” picture.  We’ve been looking for things to fill in wall space in our living room I have a feeling we’ll be giving Fracture a lot of business in the coming month’s!

My Review:

The products I was sent to review:

·         Foot Cream with Shea Butter
·         Udderly Smooth Udder Cream
·         Udderly Smooth Moisturizing Lotion
·         Body Cream Udder Cream

I had never heard of utterly smooth, to be honest… But co-workers of mine had heard of them, and praised them so I was excited to be able to review Utterly Smooth.

Because it is getting warmer here, I am a huge fan of the foot cream. Going from sneakers to flip flops and sandals is hard for me to do. Why you ask? Because of my dry dry feet, being wrapped in shoes all winter they are pretty rough and dry. Not at all ready to greet the world. But after trying the utterly smooth foot cream, I love my feet and they are ready to be shown off. My feet did not get immediately softer (well they did a little) but after using the cream a bit, boy could I tell the difference. It is made with Shea Butter this is strong moisturizer that helps even very dry skin. I only had to use a bit at a time and it really helped make my feet "Summer feet".

The original Udderly Smooth Udder Cream is also a great lotion, I keep this near my sink,  we wash our hands a lot so they tend to try out and are not as smooth as they can be, so I use this on my hands daily after I wash. My daughter has been using this cream as well. She gets dry knees (from playing on her knees all the time) She has started using this to soften up her knees (she has to do it herself, she is a big girl! She is growing up so fast!).

The utter cream is thick, and it goes on smooth and absorbs without being greasy. It is a great  cream. The body cream was great for all over body coverage, I will be sure to bring a packet with me when I travel. I tend to really dry out when I am on the road.

I really like the Udderly Smooth company, they have so many great products. I love that the lotions are not greasy or sticky, they absorb quickly, and makes your skin feel great. Check out Utterly Smooth you will love it.

Guylian Chocolates – Review

About Guylian : (from the website)

Guy Foubert was a passionate Belgian Chocolatier making handmade chocolate truffles in  Sint-Niklaas, Belgium. In 1958, Guy and Liliane joined their names, both in marriage  and in their company name creating Chocolaterie Guylian; a small, artisanal chocolate maker. Today, Guylian crafts the finest authentic Belgian
chocolate truffles
, selling them to chocolate lovers in Belgium and in more  than 100 countries across the world.

Guylian Artisanal Belgian Chocolates provide the ultimate experience for chocolate lovers. Each luxurious
chocolate seashell is marbled with 100% pure, silky smooth milk, dark and white Belgian chocolate. Our irresistible seashell chocolates are filled with a rich, decadent, and luxuriously creamy chocolate truffle; the original handmade recipe of Guy & Liliane.  My review:

I received several chocolates  from Guylian Chocolates to review. The Sea Shells and seahorse truffles are very creamy and soft. . The Sea Shells are filled with a creamy hazelnut praliné filling. They are a blend of white and dark chocolate, and are boxed ready for gift giving, the packaging for all the chocolates are just beautiful and they have small and large assortments they can fit any budget.
Belgian chocolate is divine,  if you have not tried Belgian chocolate yet, you are missing out! It is a unsurpassed quality that you can really taste.

I shared the extra dark truffles with my mother in law who is a dark chocolate connoisseur… She proclaimed them to be the best dark chocolate she has ever had. Well the dark chocolate connoisseur she proclaimed this the best dark chocolate ever. There is a reason for this Guylian's Dark Chocolate was awarded the International Taste and Quality Institute 2010 Superior Taste Award.  My daughter was also a big fan, she loved the seahorses, they are so creamy that she had no problem eating them (without front teeth).
Made with 100% pure cocoa butter there is something for everyone.

They are made in small batches and made with care. Are you a diabetic, or do you know someone who is? Guylian has something for you too they have, no sugar added bars that are very tasty and just as great as the other chocolates. They do not taste sugar free, the chocolate is a 100% natural product that is sweetened with Malitol and sugar alternative.
So I would recommend checking out Guylian Chocolates they make a great gift for someone special, or just for yourself :)

Purchase your own at www.guylianbelgianchocolate.com or you can buy the chocolate near you just check out their local retailers search tool.
