Petit Jean meats must for any football party!

Here we are in the middle of football season and that means my husband is always looking for a snack to munch on while watching the games. We’ve gone through all the traditional snacks like chips and pretzels while good they can tend to be a little boring, he wants something more, something with a little pizzazz! That’s where my friends at Petit Jean stepping in with the perfect snack for this time of year. Summer Sausage.

The funny thing about the Summer Sausage is the name, and I realize you can eat it whenever but we always think about eating sausages like this in the fall/winter time and here it sits with the “summer” moniker. Name conundrum aside the sausage itself was a huge hit this past weekend even though the game he was watching wasn’t. We’re mustard fans and we always have jars of mustard in the fridge and the best thing to pair with summer sausage is mustard they work so well together. The mustard can be spicy, sweet, a combo or both it doesn’t matter it all works.

If you don’t have mustard of don’t like it for that matter it’s ok, the Petit Jean Summer Sausage plays well with others and works well alone. The taste of the sausage is fantastic, it’s got a really good smoky flavor but that smokiness isn’t hiding the natural flavor of the meat in this case  it’s a blend of pork and beef with some special spices. We ate almost a whole log without realizing it, you just sit there and pick and pick and pick and the next thing you know the sausage is gone! If you’re looking for the perfect alternative to chips and pretzels this is it!
