Disney Vacation Club a real money saver for Disney fans.

It’s funny to think that back when my husband and I first started going to Disney World, we would see signs for the Disney Vacation Club and had no idea what it was or what it entailed. One night we were wandering around the Boardwalk and decided to pop into the DVC room they had open to see what it was all about and we were amazed by the room, well, more blown away than amazed. The DVC is Disney's timeshare option and it's just perfect for Disney fanatics like my family and I who visit again and again.

We were young and pretty much had no money and the thought of dropping a staggering sum on a vacation club was so far out of the realm of possibility. I always kidded around with my husband that we might as well buy DVC points since we never stayed at hotels off Disney's property anyway.  But the cost to get into DVC was and still is so very high. Buy ins are $16,000 - $20,000.00, that is a staggering amount for a vacation club that's eventually going to expire anyway, but I still loved the idea of the Disney Vacation Club and always wished we could afford buying into it.

Fast forward several years and now I have found out that you can buy points from other Disney Vacation Club members! What a great thing.. if a member just does not have the time to visit and use their points, they can put their points for sale or rent on a resale website. You can get a great discount because most owners price to sell quickly, and you can still enjoy pretty much all of the perks of being a Disney Vacation Club member without the big down payment.* Since finding this out, we have been browsing a few of the most popular timeshare resale sites like SellMyTimeshareNow.com, just looking for the deal that's right for us. Check out the useful resources on this website to understand just how DVC points really work or check out Disney's official explanation here.

To be able to know that we’ll be able to vacation at Disney World and stay at  all of the other DVC resorts in super plush accommodations is exciting to us. And not only can we visit WDW but as DVC members we’d be able to visit Disneyland and Hawaii, and if we purchase enough points we'll be able to use them for Adventures by Disney trips!

I am looking forward to hearing “Welcome Home” when we walk into the DVC resort we decide to make our home resort. It gets me excited to know that I’ll be buying into something that will make our already great vacations better. Though our DVC points will eventually expire, as all DVC points do, we know now that we can keep buying inexpensive points online and making memories with our family for a lifetime.

*Member Getaways Program does not transfer on the resale market.
