Donkey Kong Country DVD available now, let’s have fun 80’s style!

Donkey Kong, the peace-loving ape with a heart of gold who made his debut on the pop culture scene in 1981. Donkey Kong Country brings all your favorite apes to life in stunning CGI animation. Join Donkey Kong, the peace-loving ape with a big heart as he teams with best-friend Diddy Kong to take on King K. Rool and his band of Kremlins.

I grew up in the 80’s and I just love the retro 80’s fever that is going on these days. Everyone seems to be in love with the 80’s again. With the reinsurance of neon colors, big hair. I am just waiting for acid washed jeans to come back in style!

I recently was able to check out the new dvd, Donkey Kong Country and a totally 80s party supplies that included fingerless gloves, slap bracelets, retro sunglasses, popcorn and more cool things.  Do you remember the slap bracelets from the 80’s, I used to have so many of these cool bracelets, I had just about every color of the rainbow, I loved them that much. This party pack really brought me back to my childhood.

It was a dreary and rainy this past weekend and I wanted to make the weekend more fun so I planned a little 80’s sleep over party with my daughter and my niece.  We popped popcorn, and cranked up some 80’s tunes. We started with a little dance off, and some friendly competition. Then it was time to snack on our popcorn and relax and watch the new dvd, Donkey Kong Country. My daughter being a huge Mario Cart fan was already a fan of Donkey Kong but for my niece this was her first experience with Donkey Kong and she thought he was hilarious.
Both girls loved the zany adventures of Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong on the dvd. Their favorite episode was the Booty and the Beast, in this episode  King K. Rool’s comes up with a new strategy to steal the Crystal Coconut by cloning Candy Kong with an evil robot. They try to trick Donkey Kong and take his strength from him! So what happens does the bad guy win, or does Donkey Kong triumph??? Well I am not going to give any spoilers you will have to check out this fun dvd for yourself.  Overall we had a blast at the 80’s sleepover, and the girls watched the dvd over and over again, such fun!

On August 20, 2013, the hit CGI series, Donkey Kong Country, will be available on DVD for the first time ever.  Featuring four classic episodes and a run time of 90 minutes, the DVD will be available major U.S. retail stores for $9.99.

Wow, I love the flashbacks! We need to check out Donkey Kong Country. This would be a fun family movie night that I could totally build a theme around.

I have to this this for my husband! He's an 80s baby and a gamer, so this would be a great birthday gift for him.

What? It's a movie now, not a game? I SO remember playing that at both the arcade and home video games.
