Ever since I was a little girl we've
always visited the Pocono Mountains. That's where I learned to “ski”,
I used the quotes because I'm not very good and I mostly just try to
not fall down. After all these years you'd think I'd have figured it
out by now! I'm just happy to live in close proximity to the Pocono's
and all the wonderful resorts they have. If you head over to
Pennsylvania Ski Areas Association's site you'll be able to find out all kinds of information about all 21
member resorts our state has to offer. And you'll also be able to
find all the information you'll need to plan whatever kind of trip
you're looking to book from family to groups and they even have trips
for those of you who like a little adventure.
Some of my most fondest childhood
memories were taking the two hour drive up to the Pocono's with my
family and just having so much fun skiing and sledding and just
enjoying each other. It's something I want to introduce to my
daughter and my husband. One of the long standing traditions of
playing in the snow my husband has never done....he's never been
sledding! Granted where we live and grew up in South Philly there
aren't very many hills and the hills we do have if you choose to sled
down them will lead you right into the middle of Broad St. and well
that will put an end to your sledding real quick! I feel bad that
he's never had the chance to zoom down a hill on a sled and with the
Pocono's being so close and we like to find different things to do
with our weekends I know we will be making the short drive up to the
Pocono's and I'm going to make sure I get my husband on a sled.
Growing up it wasn't as easy as it is
now to get lessons on skiing, and when you visit any of the 21
resorts associated with the PSAA you'll be open to a whole host of
things to help you or someone in your family or group to get better
acclimated with skiing. If you're child is in the 4th or
5th grade they'll ski free with their parents at any of
the member resorts.
Yes you read that right 4th and 5th graders ski free... If you're new to the world of skiing for $39.00
you'll get a beginner ticket, lessons and rentals! You can also
receive lessons on how to snowboard as well. If you're wanting and
willing to learn any of the 21 member resorts will be there to help
you learn. If you're looking for something to break up the monotony
of the winter get away from the gloom and go skiing! My husband keeps
asking if they offer a hang back at the lodge sipping hot chocolate
package....not right now but who knows?
Did you know January is Ski and Snowboard month? Well it is! And that is a great time to check out all of the wonderful skiing options that are available in PA.
For more information make sure to check out Ski PA on Facebook
Have you ever been skiing at any of these great resorts?
