Philly Farm & Food Fest at the Philadelphia Convention Center a fun and tasty show! #Fest

My family and I love to try new things, especially when it comes to fresh delicious healthy food, that is fresh from the farm.  We were very fortunate to be able to attend a local event, Philly Farm& Food Fest! Food Fest was at the at the Philadelphia Convention center this past weekend, Sunday April 13th from 11am-4pm.
"Philly Farm and Food Fest brings together regional farmers, unique food producers, sustainable food businesses and organizations under one roof for a day of sampling, shopping, and learning in support of our region's diverse and delicious food system."  If you ever wanted to learn how to pull fresh mozzarella, or make cheese? I learned how to make  fresh cheese,  in the past, was fun but harder than it seemed. At the fest we were able to meet farmers, chefs and small business owners that are on the cutting edge of Philadelphia’s flourishing artisan food scene.

The fest was filled to the brim with exhibitors, so much that they spilled out from the conference hall, to the walkways in front. There were goodies that the whole family could enjoy!
As soon as we entered the exhibit area we were greeted by Whole Foods specialists, that were there to answer any questions about the fest that we had, there was a little grocery set up for the kids, complete with tiny kid size shopping carts, to show the kids the healthy groceries that are out there. Of course we were greeted with food, some ice cream…. Spicy chocolate for me, and salted caramel for my daughter:

Why not have dessert first? Then we were given a nice sample of roast beef, macaroni salad from whole foods, I was amazed at the freshness of the meat, and my husband adored the macaroni salad.

I was so glad we arrived on empty stomachs, the samples were plentiful, and we left full… we would not eat one more bite! From cheese, to beads, to spreads to just about all you can think of to try we tried!

My husband’s highlight of the event was getting to try Speculoos ice cream, for those who may not know what Speculoos is, it is a  type of spiced short crust biscuit,

with a great cinnamon flavor, it is delicious. One of his favorite all time cookies, and to have this mixed with amazing ice cream, now this is a treat we will not forget!
My favorite goodie from the event was the Mom Pops, these tasty mini pops had no sugar, and were dairy free, and only 22 calories! I tried the Pineapple Basil, it was amazing.
Of course we could not leave without buying some tasty goods, I purchased Italian Plum jam, and roaster tomato ketchup, these were amazing tastes that I could not leave without.

Every exhibitor was so very friendly and knowledgeable, ready for any question you had, and ready to let you sample just about anything they hard to sell.  The price was affordable, $20 per person in advance, and my daughter was free (kids under 12 were free).
We cannot wait until the next food fest, this was such a fun family day out, we had a great time, and were introduced to some great healthy food items that we love. If you are looking for more gluten free, non-dairy and vegan items to add to your pantry, I would highly suggest checking out the next food fest. Make sure to join us there in 2015.

Attend:
You can check out this great food Fest on the website, and be sure to check the convention center calendar in 2015 to see if there is a Farm Fest next year.

Oh how I miss Philly, I wish they had this food fest back when I was living there. It looks like a healthy, good time.
