Disney Social Media Moms Philadelphia On-the-Road Celebration #DisneySMMoms #DisneyOTR #Disneyside

****I received breakfast, and a swag bag for attending this event, I provided my transportation. All opinions are 100% my own.****
Recently I attended my very first Disney Social media moms conference, a few days ago I was very fortunate to be able to attend a Disney’s Social Media Moms “On-the-Road” event. This event was right in my back yard, right outside of Philadelphia, just a short 25 minute drive from the city. I was excited to be able to attend.

Being a huge fan of Disney this was the event for me!  Not only was I looking forward to learning about new events and thing about Disney, I was also looking forward to hearing the guest speakers and meeting some new blogging friends.

Of course being a blogging conference, there were some great speakers, including Disney’s own Gary Buchanan. I have seen Gary, in shorts and the like online and on the video on the magical express for a while now and it was pretty cool to meet the man in person.
Gary Buchanan loves his job, and it shows. Well who would not love a job that lets you travel meet people, all while wearing a Jedi robe and Donald duck mouse ears? Garry shared some of the great Disney promotions including the Be the 8th Miner contest where you could win a trip to Disney World… Are you a great fit for the miners? Grumpy cat tried to try out,… but they already have a grumpy!

This contest is to coincide with the opening of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride as an extra celebration. I am so looking forward to riding the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride, I passed the ride on our last trip to Disney World and it looked amazing! I have my Fast Pass + for the mine train for our August trip, I will be sure to tell you all about this ride as soon as I get to ride it.  We also had some tips from the Disney Parks Blog, including a top I have never heard before… check back frequently to the Disney Blog, to see if there are any meet ups, a meet up could be a preview to an attraction, a food preview, or a movie preview… The meet ups are free, but they fill up fast!

Have you ever wanted to have your own business? Sure I advertise and cover new business all the time… What if I had a business for myself, and I promoted my business, would that work out for me? Well after hearing the inspiring stories from the panel of moms, who are also successful business women who run their own business. I know having your own busness is possible? Have you ever had an invention, or an idea that would would like to share? The mom business owners, Kristi Gorinas, Dad Pack, Amy Bradley, @toydozer, Toydozer  Jen Groover, @jengroover, Butler Bag and Maria Bailey, @MomTalkRadio, MomTV.com did, and they are successful, they tried and succeeded so you can too.

Kristi Gorinas, inventor of the Dad Pack, was the lucky recipient of the Huggies Mom Inspired grant program. A wonderful program where if you have an idea or invention, you can submit your idea to Huggies and you just may win  $15,000 to get you started on the right path to getting your invention in stores, and out to the people who may need it.  Kristi sent in her submission less than an hour before the contest ended, she never thought that she would win, but she got the call saying she was a winner…. And she was on to making her dreams come true.

Amy Bradley, had an inspiring story, and some great advice, including… make sure to get a patient on your idea ASAP. Her Toy Dozer, is currently in 50 Walmarts nationwide and is in the process of going to more. Jen Groover inventor of the Butler Bag, came up with the idea for her invention, while not being able to sleep, just taking out the basket of her dishwasher, and bam,.. she had a wonderful idea, that has helped her make money in her sleep!  Maria Bailey, is a successful business woman and a busy mom, she is the creator of Mom Talk Radio, and she had some great advice for us moms, be present for your children, Maria said something that really got me thinking,
“When you talk to your children, look into the whites of their eyes and let them know that you are listening.” Yes I have to admit, I don’t do this much, and I want to make a point to look into my daughters eyes, stop, and be sure to listen.

We heard about some great new technology from HP, with their new wireless printer you can do things you never dreamed of before! Are you in need of printing something from your Ipad?
Well just send it to this great printer, same goes for your phone… Printing from your phone??? Yes this is now possible with HP. When you sign up with the ink program, the printer knows when you are low on ink, and it orders you the ink you need and ships it right to your door, isn’t that amazing!

Debi Silber, @TheMojoCoach https://twitter.com/TheMojoCoach  , Author and Founder of The Mojo Coach, showed us that even the little things can lead to a more healthy life. Push yourself to go just a little further, and you will be surprised at the results.  She spoke about living a more healthy lifestyle, all while we were enjoying a sugar cookie from Disney… perhaps the healthier lifestyle will start tomorrow?

Victoria Lim, @victorialim, Managing Editor, Walt Disney World Public Relations, she was there to show us how to Create Visual Content with Ease. Victoria, was chock full of great information, including when interviewing someone make sure to take notice of your surroundings, especially the wind.. wind can run an interview. Landscape is the what to go when making videos. One question was how do you do a video without sounding flat and boring… Victoria says she takes like she is reading a bedtime story and emphasizes certain words to keep the taking interesting… I will have to try this for my next video.

Overall I had a magical day, I learned a lot, we traded pins, and had a lot of fun. I just wanted to thank Maria Bailey and Disney for the chance to attend this fantastic event.  As a final surprise we got to meet the mouse himself… Mickey! It was nice seeing you again my friend!

I love Disney and I love Disney Social Media Moms even more. Disney knows how to throw a party and entertain people both on the road and at their venues. I love that you were able to be a part of such a great program with so many truly amazing bloggers!

I was so excited to be invited to this event and loved seeing everyone there. Sprouts is truly an amazing store and I cannot wait until they build one closer to me. The Atlanta market is getting spoiled with 4 locations opening in 2014!

I keep finding bloggers who live near me! I am in Montgomery County, Susan!

This event sounds great. I love hearing about women entrepreneurs who have been successful. That would have been my favorite part.
