Hey parents! Minute Maid knows you are Doin’ Good! #DoinGood #DiMeMedia

We’re weeks away from a new school year and I’m more stressed about it than my daughter! In just a couple of weeks I’ll be the mother of a fifth grader… Where has the time gone?! I look at my daughter and I begin to think back to when she was just a little girl and that seems like it was decades ago when, in reality, it was only a handful of years. I’m stressed about whether we’re doing a good job, will she be a well-rounded person, I want her to have the best possible life she can have. Then I take a step back and look at everything as a whole and I think to myself, “I think we’re doin’ good so far! Are we perfect? No. But perfection isn’t fun.”

As we move along with school and life, I stop and think about making sure we have quality time together to make lasting memories that my daughter will be able to look back on fondly when she’s older. Time with your kids, while they are kids is quick. I finally get what my parents have said that you grow up quickly. I’ve come to the realization that my daughter is like an elephant. That is, she never seems to forget anything! She’ll just start talking about a museum or tour we’ve taken and I’m amazed that she retains so much. She gives us the impression that she might not want to be there, but deep down inside she’s actually paying attention and retaining that information.

We all have hurdles to get over with kids. While they’re usually great, there are times you just want to bonk them on the top of the head to knock something back into place. My daughter went from a normal little girl to being a functional mute. She would only talk to 4 people. It made life hard, and frustrating, but we worked through it and got her back on the right track and now she talks to people again.

When I hear her answering a question from a TSA agent or ordering her food in a restaurant, I just smile to myself because she’s doin’ good. Just being there for them, helping them with a project, or answering a question, or just being there to be an ear that they can bend to get something off of their chest - whatever it is they’ll remember it and will learn from that and do it for their children someday. You might not realize that you’re doin’ good right away, but when you look back over everything and see how your kids are as a whole, then you’ll realize it and you can be proud of that.

I think new moms especially struggle with this. Having a new baby at home, whether it's your first or seventh, can make a momma question her abilities to handle all.the.things. at all times. I want to say to these moms, "You're #doinggood! Everything is going to be okay."

I think most moms don't give themselves enough credit! I wish someone would have told me when I first had my baby that I was doing a lot better than I thought I was doing.

I know many parents, including myself who put too much thought into it and worry about being a good parent. It is good to help each other, support each other, and remind each other how well we are all doing

I think as parents, we all question how well we are doing from time to time. I mean, it's not like we get to take a test and get graded on our performance, right?!

I have a friend who is a single Mom of four kids aged 16,15,5 and 2. Her five year old has Autism and is non verbal. Every day is a struggle for her yet she is always smiling. She is doing an amazing job.

It's always good when you're noticing the progress your child is making. The fact that you care enough to notice is a sign you're doing a good job.

I think when people are first time parents they struggle. Being a mom or dad for the first time can be really hard. It's nice to hear someone telling you that you are doing good.

Back to school is always a very stressful time! It is important to take a step back and realize that we are doing a great job as parents!

Both my little ones struggled with speech and developmental delays. It amazes me how far they have come and how much they have done to get to where they are now. Your daughter sounds amazing!

My niece is a single parent and she's has two daughters. She works so hard for them, but she still thinks that she's not good enough. I always tell her that she's doing great.

So many parents beat themselves up but basically it's a hard job that no one has ever done before. You can get tips from others but kids are all so different, it's a new job with each one.
