Sanjay’s Super Team a fun new Pixar short filled with action and adventure! #GoodDinoEvent

****Disney provided me with an all-expense paid trip for me to cover this great event ****

If you are a fan of Pixar movies you know that each movie begins with a short, these wonderfully done shorts, to me, are just as entertaining as the feature film. From the classic Gerald’s Game, to my new favorites like Lava. Well, there is going to be another favorite short added to your list the new Sanjay’s Super Team is filled with action and adventure! The short Sanjay’s Super Team, premieres at the beginning of the Pixar film The Good Dinosaur, in theaters November 25, 2015.
In “Sanjay's Super Team,” the new short film from Pixar Animation Studios, accomplished artist Sanjay Patel uses his own experience to tell the story of a young, first-generation Indian-American boy whose love for western pop culture comes into conflict with his father’s traditions.
Sanjay is absorbed in the world of cartoons and comics, while his father tries to draw him into the traditions of his Hindu practice. Tedium and reluctance quickly turn into an awe-inspiring adventure as the boy embarks on a journey he never imagined, returning with a new perspective that they can both embrace.
On my recent trip to the Pixar Studios, I got to sit down with the writer and creator Sanjay Patel. We got to get an idea of how Sanjay came up with the idea for this short, and what he wanted for this short.

Have you ever disagreed with your parents? Grown up with other beliefs and just did not understand why your parents do what they do? This is how Sanjay first felt about his culture, he did not want to be different, and to him his religious parents were very different and he did not understand them, but Sanjay strives to understand his culture more.  Way before Sanjay started working on Sanjay’s Super Team he wrote books to show his parents culture, to show their culture to the masses.
Those books featured cute versions of the deities that were a part of his culture. They books were noticed, and people loved learning about these gods in these cute ways. Everyone was excited about what he was doing with mythology. Sanjay spent 4 hrs a night for 10 years reading these mythology books, he studied the Asian arts and his Mom and Dad’s beliefs and Sanjay got passionate about it.  Sanjay Patel, wanted to bring this work into the show and make it a part of his day job, and the idea of Sanjay’s Super Team was born.
According to Sanjay Patel , for Sanjay’s Super Team he “did not want a Kung Fu look for the movements" he wanted a "classic Indian style chorography”.  He wanted to base the action in anime, because anime has the best action. 100% of the action will go a long way.  I think they did a great job with Sanjay’s Super Team, it was full of action, but it also had a great story that we could all learn something from. Sanjay’s Super Team premieres at the beginning of the Pixar film The Good Dinosaur, in theaters November 25, 2015.

  2. I love the idea behind the Sanjays super team short. I grew up struggling to understand what my parents were trying to teach. And then as an adult I totally get it. It's a brilliant story of embracing and finding balance between new and old.
