iCutYouOut silhouettes - Review (And a Giveaway)

Are you looking for a unique way to display your child. Sure photos are great, but if you are looking for something unique and amazing. I would like to suggest a  silhouette by Keith Donaldson, here is a little more information about Keith, from the website:

Since the age of eight, Keith has developed this art to perfection. With twenty years experience, Keith's list of credentials include a tenure at Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom. Portraits are available of all subjects ...with exceptional talent for "wiggly kids" ! Freelancing for some years at Downtown Disney, Keith prefers to take it on the road and cut silhouettes at art festivals, fairs and children's specialty boutiques.

America's most accurate silhouette artist tours the eastern states cutting freehand silhouettes (no drawings or tracings!) of children, couples and families at fine art festivals and children's boutiques. He is able to include up to three people in the same portrait! You may also order online with profile photos

My Review:

Being able to take a picture and cut the silhouette out of the person in the picture and have it be recognizable is an amazing thing. My husband jokes that if he did it he’d be the Picasso of silhouette art because being left handed he’s not really capable of cutting neatly so his abstract works would fetch millions! I’ve always liked walking past the silhouette stands in the Magic Kingdom and looking at the work, it’s amazing, and the patience and level of detail that goes into it is astonishing. It truly is an art form the silhouette we received from iCutYouOut  of our daughter is amazingly good.

It’s simple and delicate and you know instantly it’s her. Her eyelashes, her lips, her nose and even her ponytail are all spot on and instantly recognizable. It’s really funny to find out that Keith worked in the Magic Kingdom and free-lanced at Downtown Disney which means those silhouettes I loved looking at were probably his! You can tell this is a silhouette made by someone who has passion and cares about his art; this amazing art and will hang proudly on our living room wall and is a wonderful snapshot in time of our little girl who everyday gets a little older and is not so much a little girl anymore.
Here is the picture he was working with....

And here is the silhouette version of this picture.

If you are looking for a way to capture the look of your child in a unique way, something that you will treasure forever I would recommend a  silhouette from Keith. You can even order an oval frame to display your silhouette, they also offer silhouette pendants. What a great gift they would make!
