Elle' Naturals - Review (And a Giveaway)

About Elle Naturals (From the Website)

Elle Naturals is a small, eco-minded company located in Austin, Texas. We focus on environmental friendliness, using only recyclable packaging and biodegradable shipping materials. We use post-consumer recycled paper for everything from brochures and promotional materials to invoices, and use only environmentally safe cleaning supplies.
We hope you enjoy our lip balm as much as we do-because what you put on your body is just as important as what you put in your body.

Elle' Naturals lip balms are non-comedogenic, designed to maximize the absorption of hydrating ingredients like sweet almond oil, aloe vera extract, silky soybean oil, and soothing vitamin E.

Ells' Natural Lip Balm comes in a variety of flavors:

  • Mango Butter With Lime
  • Shea Butter With Grapefruit
  • Coffee Butter French Vanilla
  • Coffee Butter Vanilla Latte
  • Shea Butter Natural
  • Green Tea Butter With Peppermint
  • Acai Butter With Raspberry
  • Green Tea Butter With Lemon
  • Mango Butter With Coconut

My Review:

I am a lip balm fan, I have been ever since I was a tween (back in those days they didn't call them tweens though...) I have lip balms every where, and I know a great lip balm when I use one, and Ell's Naturals, a Texas based company has come up with a wonderful lip balm that I love, I was able to try each of the scents available in the lip balm line, and I was very impressed with the smells, they are true to the natural smells, the lemon smell was like fresh squeezed lemons not an artificial scent at all.

I also love the shape of the balms they are not round! That is great, no more lip balms rolling to the floor, what a great idea, and I think they are easier to hold while applying as well.

Mango Butter With Coconut, was my favorite scent, it was so fresh and tropical. I loved the way that the balm made my lips feel, so smooth and not gummy or greasy. My daughter has picked up this nasty habit of picking her lip (she has pretty dry lips, and they get flaky) as much as I tell her to stop messing with her lip, it never works but I have found the answer, I have given her, her own Elle' naturals  the Coffee Butter Vanilla Latte, she thinks that only adults can have coffee, and since having the great smelling coffee the lip balm this makes her a "big girl" so she has started using it instead of bothering with her dry lips. I do believe if she keeps this up her lips will be smooth and no longer dry. I am very impressed with Elle' Naturals lip balms, I would recommend them for lip balm lovers everywhere!

WeWood Watch - Review (And a Giveaway)

About WeWood (From the Website)

The baby of an Italian shoe dude who loves watches and two eco-smart entrepreneurs with a crush on the environment, WE fashions wooden timepieces from mostly scrap-wood and uses state-of-the-art Miyota movements for the guts, resulting in a unique watch that's handsome, earth-friendly, and splash-proof.
The first timepiece was designed in Florence, Italy (2010) and with the widespread craving for newstalgia and eco-friendly ethos, WEwood hit the scene as the avant-garde approach to sophisticated sustainability. A few months later, WEwood opened a branch in Los Angeles, CA and teamed up with tree-planting-partner, American Forests.

With this happy pact, the goal is to help restore Mother Nature, one watch at a time, by planting a tree for every WeWOOD purchased. In just the first three months, WEwood planted 5,000 trees with American Forests, and sets challenging targets for 2011 and beyond. Keeping forests healthy and happy keeps us healthy and happy, we like to keep our reminder on our wrist.

The Tree and The Wood Watch

WEWOOD lets us rediscover nature in its beauty, its simplicity and inspired design. It reminds us of a tree’s powerful way of life; rooted, yet reaching.
Completely absent of artificial and toxic materials, the WEWOOD Timepiece is as natural as your wrist. It respects your skin as you respect nature by choosing it. Your WEWOOD Watch breathes the same air that you breathe and may awaken memories from another time and place. Your WEWOOD Watch records your sensations and shares your experiences as the perfect natural mate, whose story also becomes yours to wear, smell and feel.

Rebuilding an Endangered Ecosystem - One Tree at the Time

A philosophy not implemented is only a dream. Conversely, when you get your WEWOOD Timepiece, you can feel confident you’re making a difference. One Timepiece plants one tree, and together we help to ensure the health and survival of the natural world.
One Watch  – One Tree – One Planet

WeWood has two styles of watches:

And what my Husband was Lucky enough to review:

My Review:

My husband likes watches, he has several so when I told him about We Wood watches (http://we-wood.us/) he was intrigued. These aren’t your typical watches; they’re made out of wood, well the watch band and face that is, making this a very different and really unique time piece. My husband received the We Wood Date Brown/Army watch, meaning he now has a watch to go with his collection of green/camo cargo shorts. He was excited, he likes to match.

The watch is nice, it’s different and when people take a look at his wrist they immediately do a double take and say is that really wood? It’s a conversation piece, you will get noticed wearing this watch. It’s a really top notch watch, the wood looks good and feels good on your wrist, and was easy to adjust to make it fit his wrist; it took my husband all of 2 minutes to remove a link. The watch sells for $119.00, which is a great price for such a nice looking time piece.

You have 7 different colors to choose from and no two watches are the same, because they use wood colors might be a little different from the way they appear on their site. So you’ll basically have a one of a kind watch in a way.  And the really nicest thing is that for every We Wood watch that is sold a tree is planted. So do something nice for yourself and the environment and get yourself a We Wood watch!

Blue Bayou Restaurant - Review

The Blue Bayou Restaurant : Wow… It was dark, smelled like a basement, it was dark, it was expensive, it was dark and it was dark. I don’t have many good things to say about this "restaurant". I had the Monte Cristo, what a bad move. It was horrible, I took one bite and pushed it away, it was greasy and tasteless, one of the worst things I’ve ever eaten in my life, seriously. It was so bad our waitress had it removed from our bill, it was sopping with so much oil it was inedible. But of course I was still charged a $12 plate sharing charge. My husband went with Roasted Beef Strip Loin, he liked it, he wasn’t raving about it but he was able  to eat his meal unlike me who just picked at the sides. Our daughter went with the Mac-n-Cheese hard to screw that up, she liked it.

This restaurant from a far seemed really cool, you’ll be eating inside of Pirates! The problem is it was so dark you couldn’t see anything! If you drop something on the floor forget it, it’s lost forever. For the cost of the food I really needed to be blown away, I wasn’t. This isn’t a cheap place to eat, you’d expect top notch quality, I have eaten better food at TGIFriday’s for a fraction of the cost. This was a total disappointment.  It was so disappointing I did not even take pictures of the food! Now that is bad!

Have you ever checked out the website for Silvermark? They have so many great kitchen products. Just about anything you might need for your kitchen they have all in one place. And things you need but may never have heard of, like The Inflate & Take® Cup Cake Carrier .

The Inflate & Take® Cup Cake Carrier .

Your cupcakes travel in style and arrive unharmed and smudge free at a birthday party, office event or for any occasion where cupcakes are welcome. The WOW is when you are done; the Inflate & Take®; deflates for neat, compact storage. The trays stack and attach to one another so multiple layers can be combined to increase the capacity. The Inflate & Take® accommodates cupcakes of various sizes—even supersized cupcakes and muffins are held firmly in place.

Set contains 2 trays, each with a 12-cupcake capacity, and a separate storage lid. Each tray measures 21˝x 17˝x 4˝ when inflated. The set also includes a hand pump, carrying strap and storage case. Available in clear, blue or red. $30.00 value

My Review:

Do you just love cupcakes? I sure do, and I love making them but the main problem I come across when making cupcakes is how to transport them? Cakes are pretty easy to transport, but cupcakes now that is a different story. In the past I have come up with ways to travel with cupcakes, the most recent being a cookie sheet packed with cupcakes and covered with tin foil. And no, that did not work out well (I know it was not the best of ideas but I had to travel with the cupcakes somehow) the cupcakes slid, even though they were packed tight, and the icing came off with the foil of course!

Well there is now a solution for carrying cupcakes, The Inflate & Take® Cup Cake Carrier . is a great invention! It is ingenious! Now I am able to travel (hands free) with this padded bag on my shoulder. The bag holds up to 24 cupcakes. Now how can this be you ask? Simple this light weight blow up carrier has separate levels and trays for each of the 12 cupcakes. The trays can handle small cupcakes, large cupcakes and even muffins! I was able to travel to a picnic last weekend with relative ease, I was concerned about the icing coming off of the cupcakes, but this did not happen!

The cupcakes arrived in fantastic shape, I was quite impressed. When finished it deflates for easy storage. I would recommend The take and inflate cup cake carrier for anyone who loves to bake, and with the school year coming up I will be able to bake cupcakes for my daughters class without a problem. I will be able to walk her to class and drop off the cupcake carrier and let the kids enjoy and pick up the carrier after school, making my life so easier~

Saline Soothers - Review

What are Saline Soothers? (from the website)

Saline (Sodium Chloride) is a mineral found naturally in the earth that excels at dissolving mucus when used in the right concentration.
Building on the proven effectiveness of saline, the makers of Boogie Wipes have created Saline Soothers Moisturizing Nose Wipes.
Dry tissues can chap your nose and those with aloe can leave a filmy residue on your skin. Not so with Saline Soothers.
Pre-moistened with natural saline, vitamin E, and aloe, Saline Soothers are designed to do just that – soothe.
Saline cleans and helps dissolve mucus, while moisturizing aloe and vitamin E keep your nose looking and feeling up to snuff.
As always our products are hypoallergenic and alcohol free. Like Boogie Wipes, Saline Soothers come in three refreshing scents: Cool Menthol, Fragrance Free, and Light Lavender

My Review:

Little Busy Bodies, the maker of the ever popular Boogie Wipes, have introduced a saline nose wipe for adults. The reality is, we have boogies too, and our noses get just as chapped and tender as our children’s, especially during allergy and cold/flu season.

Saline Soothers are available at Walgreens stores nationwide, and will be in Walmart stores this summer. Saline Soothers are available now in a resalable 15-count pack for $1.99 and in a 45-count mini tissue box beginning this fall. For more information please visitwww.salinesoothers.com.

When I am sick there is nothing is worse than the dry red nose that comes with the colds, it is uncomfortable and I hate the red flaky nose that comes with it as well! But Saline Soothers is the answer to dry sore noses, I was able to try a Cool Menthol and I loved the pre moistened wipes, the wipes contain natural saline aloe, and vitamin E.  It was so much nicer than dry tissues, and the aloe tissues aren't that great either, I think they make my hands too greasy.  I would love to try the Light Lavender next, and my husband will sure love the fragrance free.  I am sure there will be a lot more colds in our future! I would recommend Saline Soothers, if you are a lover of Boogie Wipes, or you are just tired of sore noses that come with your cold!

My Review:

Read my blog, we have cookies! The Cravory (https://www.thecravory.com/) sent us a batch of their deliciously decadent cookies. Yes they have chocolate chip but they have so many more unique and tasty flavors making them a truly unique cookie company.

We were sent 6 different cookie flavors, there are 2 cookies per package, and the flavors we received were: red velvet, peanut butter overload, birthday cake, ultimate chocolate chip, chocolate truffle and oreo milk shake.  Where to begin? These are some wickedly good cookies, the flavors are great, the birthday cake really did taste like cake, the cookie managed to play a trick on your mind, you’d really think you’re eating a slice of cake and not a cookie. The cookies are loaded with flavor and goodies; they’re packed with all kinds of different chips to help create their unique flavors. The chocolate truffle tasted just like a Devil Dog, but the advantage the cookie has over the Devil Dog is that it’s not painfully dry; these cookies are soft and moist. The peanut butter overload had such an incredibly good peanut butter taste, real peanut butter too it didn’t taste artificial.
 PB overload

But the true test of any good cookie maker is how good can you make a chocolate chip cookie? Well they make a delicious chocolate chip cookie, one of the best one’s we’ve ever eaten. This is just a sampling of their flavors they have several more to choose from such as: Mexican chocolate, pancakes & bacon, banana creme pie and oatmeal pear fig to name a few. A box of their 12 flavor mix cookies (that’s 24 cookies total) is $59.00 and the shipping is free. If you’re looking for a truly decadent, delicious and different cookie give the Cravory a shot, they take ordinary and make it extraordinary.
Close up of the PB overload... mmmmm
Close up of the chocolate chip, look at all of the chocolate!

Stubb's BBQ Sauce - Review (And a Giveaway)

About the man (from the website)

Stubb was born March 7, 1931, in Navasota, a small town on Texas’ Brazos River, one of 12 children born to a Baptist evangelist preacher and his wife. Some say that Stubb inherited his love for cooking from his father who would feed his congregation barbeque along with the gospel. Stubb recalls revival meetings followed by potluck dinners featuring beef, pork and even raccoon and possum. When he was still a young boy, Stubb and his family moved to a farm near Lubbock. Stubb spent much of his youth picking cotton.

About the BBQ (from the website)

Take a road trip across the U.S. and you’ll find countless variations on the same tasty theme: meat, slow-cooked with fire and smoke. A truly regional practice, barbecue has evolved over time to reflect the people who cook it and the places they hail from. In the Carolinas, for example, they love mustard sauce and pulled pork. In Memphis, they can’t get enough dry rub. And who could forget about Kansas City? Barbecue is beloved wherever it’s practiced, perhaps nowhere more than Texas. Texans enjoy a sweet, tomato-based sauce, with more than a hint of tangy spice, and they’ll slather in on pork, beef, sausage, chicken, even mutton. More important than what it is, barbecue brings people together. It’s meant to take a long time, so friends can smell it and talk about it, anticipate that first savory bite and celebrate when it’s all over. Fire up those coals!

My review:

I was sent 2 Stubb's delicious  bbq sauces to try,
Original Bar-B-Q sauce- This is a tomato based sauce, that is not too spicy, it has just the right amount of flavor and spice for my little girl!

Hickory Bourbon sauce- This sauce has a little hickory smoke flavor, it is tomato based, with a dark color that is a bit sweet and a bit spicy.
When I think of BBQ sauce I think of the grill, and cooking outside. As much as I love to grill this heat wave we have been having on the east coast is not joke, it has just been too too hot to grill outside! I came up with a great inside BBQ dinner for the family. Since I am a working mother I use my crock pot for slow cooking as much as I can, I made a slow cooked Hickory Bourbon ribs for dinner last night.

You will need:

Country Style Ribs
Bottle of Stubbs BBQ sauce (we made it with the Hickory Bourbon sauce)
1/2 cup of water

Cook on low in crock pot for 6 hours, this is simple and delicious!

Oh the smell it was just mouth watering! The meat just fell off of the bone, and the flavor of the Hickory Bourbon sauce really came through, this was a hit with my family. I was surprised that my daughter liked the sauce! It has a bit of a tang (not a hot spice though…) and I thought my daughter would turn her nose up at this, but she was a big fan she asked for seconds!  The Stubb's Original Sauce is good on almost anything, we love to use it on  hamburgers,  ribs, chicken, and as a dip for just about anything!

Stubb's offers many flavors of BBQ sauce, marinades and rubs. The BBQ sauce is for sale are local realtors and online for $8.00 for 2 bottles, not a bad deal. I will have to pick up the Pecan Barbeque flavor, that sounds right up our alley, it sounds good.

Now wouldn't you love to try the sauces too? Stubb's has offered one of my readers a prize pack from Stubb's!

Buy it:

Stubb's is also available at your local supermarket

Some of our dining experiences at Disneyland.

We had to opportunity to eat at several different places on our recent trip to Disneyland, some good some bad. For the most part most of our food experiences were very good with only a couple of klunkers.

Ralph Brennan’s Express: We ate here on our arrival night. This was our first hit, except for one item. They make snowball’s, something I had in New Orleans and was given a lesson in how to make them properly by the man selling me the snowball. He really was a craftsman; he showed us the proper and improper way of making a traditional snowball. Well at Ralph Brennan’s Express they need to take a lesson. This "snowball" was a snowcone, it was icy and not fluffy. The reason it’s a snowball is because the ice is shaved in such a way that it comes out powdery like snow and not icy. That was a dud. Their beignets were ok, not Café Du Monde good but better than what we had at the Port Orleans French Quarter. Can’t beat the real thing, kind of like getting a cheese steak somewhere other than Philly, we do it right here and everyone else is a pretender. My husband ate the BBQ Pork Po-Boy and raved about it, while my daughter and I ate the beignets, we were too tired to eat anything heavy while my husband can eat even when sleeping.

The Carnation Café: This seemed to be our favorite restaurant; we ate here 3 times (twice for breakfast, once for dinner). The food here was very good, so much so we kept going back! The Café Cinnamon Roll French Toast was off the charts; my cinnamon loving husband was in his glory. The Croissant Benedict was good as well, would have been better is they didn’t soft boil the eggs, part of the fun of eating Eggs Benedict is having the yolk and the Hollandaise sauce mix all together, but they over cooked the eggs and thus we had no comingling. Our daughter loved the Mickey waffles, anything she can pour syrup on she likes!
For dinner my husband started with the Loaded Baked Potato Soup, which he went nuts for. Got an entrée he went with the Main Street Meatloaf Stack, he loved it, he picked out the mushrooms and gave them a dirty look but he really enjoyed this. It was like an open face meatloaf sandwich, it looked really good. I went with the Half Sandwich and Soup, he was right about the potato soup, it really is that good. I chose the turkey sandwich and was happy with my choice, it was a tasty sandwich. Our daughter had the Smucker’s Peanut Butter Painter’s Palette; I had to persuade her into this one because I really wanted to see what it looked like! I would have ordered it for myself if they would have let me! It was one of the coolest kid’s dishes we have seen, it was on a painter’s palette (duh!) and came with jelly and fruit and marshmallows, and for someone who had to be persuaded into getting it she gobbled it up quickly.

More to come!
