Just how big can a little kid dream?
Ask Alexander, as he takes a wild ride and discovers the sky’s the limit!Through Alexander’s imaginative journey, he discovers how great men become heroes:
- The roughest rider can be surprisingly gentle (Theodore Roosevelt)
- A strong leader is also the most peaceful (Chief Joseph)
- Being brave about what makes you different will not only help you break records, but inspire others (Jackie Robinson)
- A curious mind can lead to new discoveries (Thomas Edison)
- Being creative and trying new things can motivate others (Fred Astaire)
- And sometimes our biggest hero is closest to home (Daddy)

Saturday, March 26th - Doylestown, PAMy review: My Name is Not Alexander is a wonderfully fascinating and educational book. It is brilliantly written and the illustrations are superb. A favorite part of the book for my daughter and myself was the use of diverse historical characters, being that my daughter is 6 she's chock full of questions and I needed to be on my toe's for her rapid fire questions about said historical figures. Funny thing is that I was able to rely upon pop culture helping me to explain to her just who some of those people were. Case in point "Fred" (Astire), we love holiday movies and one of my husband's favorites just so happens to be Holiday Inn, a movie in which "Fred" stars in, I explained to my daughter that he's the man in the movie who dances with the firecrackers popping around him. She immediately picked up on it and laughed, she was excited to know she knew who "Fred" was.
But by far the funniest moment we had reading this book was "Thomas"(Edison), again I was blasted with questions and thought I was right with my response.....well almost! I started to tell my daughter about Alexander Graham Bell.....not Thomas Edison! I've had a mental block all my life I get confused between the light bulb and the telephone:-)! I said Alexander and immediately my daughter said his name is not Alexander, It's Thomas! I broke out laughing and having to explain myself and my mental lapse. Next time I get confused I know I have reference material right at my finger tips! We had so much fun reading and learning, what a wonderful thought provoking book this was.
