King Arthur Flour - Cinnamon Collection, A great Mother's day gift - Review (And a Giveaway)

Are you looking for a great Mothers Day gift? Are you just out of ideas? Here is a great gift that Mom's will love!

King Arthur Flour

They have so many great gift ideas, even for the mom who has everything. King Arthur Flour is a employee owned business, and Americas oldest flour company, they are over 200 years old.

One of my favorite gift baskets is the Scone Gift Basket. Who wouldn't love fresh baked scones, what a nice warm yummy treat. They have baskets that all kinds of mother will love the Country Casual Gift Basket is great for any mom perhaps daddy/hubby could use this to make Mom a nice breakfast in bed? (hint hint)

I was lucky enough to be able to review a great gift set, the King Arthur Cinnamon Collection.

A whole lot of sugar and spice – inside this box is a cinnamon enthusiast’s dream come true!
  • Includes one each: 2-pound bag of thick, rich, outrageously delicious cinnamon filling mix (just add water); 2-ounce container of chef-renowned Vietnamese cinnamon; 1-pound bag of quick-melting Cinnamon-Sugar Plus; 1-pound bag of all-natural cinnamon Flav-R-Bites; and a 1-pound bag of sweet-spicy, creamy cinnamon chips.
  • Hint: add a little spice to your traditional chocolate recipes by stirring in or sprinkling on some cinnamon.

My review:

I would like to  to talk about my one true love. My husband? My daughter? No. Cinnamon. I am a cinnamon junkie, Cinnamon. It should be on tables in restaurants along with salt and pepper. Anytime someone says, "Ooh, this is so good - what's in this?" the answer invariably comes back, "cinnamon." Cinnamon. Again and again. Seinfeld is a genius, you can't argue genius! We....I had the pleasure of getting a box of goodies from King Arthur Flour (http://www.kingarthurflour.com,) you could smell the cinnamon permeating through the box, I was in nirvana.

I opened the box to inspect the goodies and here's what I found: 2-pound bag of thick, rich, outrageously delicious cinnamon filling mix (just add water); 2-ounce container of chef-renowned Vietnamese cinnamon; 1-pound bag of quick-melting Cinnamon-Sugar Plus; 1-pound bag of all-natural cinnamon Flav-R-Bites; and a 1-pound bag of sweet-spicy, creamy cinnamon chips. My head was spinning, I couldn't wait to try it all. My first try was making oatmeal, I've become a fan of the plain Quaker Oates, I can doctor them up anyway I want and they're better than the prepackaged oatmeal. I added Flav-R-Bites, some cinnamon sugar, and a little maple syrup. I let the oatmeal sit for a few minutes to give the Flav-R-Bites a chance to melt and melt they did, they really are good. Shoot, you don't even need to add them to anything, just eat them right out of the bag for a quick pick me up.

We were in the baking mood and decided to bake a cake for Easter, we used the thick, rich, outrageously delicious cinnamon filling mix for a cinnamoney center swirl to make what turned out to be a large coffee cake. To quote Buddy Valastro we made a "freakin' good coffee cake!" We also used the Vietnamese cinnamon, wow! This is probably the best cinnamon I've ever had the pleasure of smelling and or tasting in my entire life and I've consumed a lot of cinnamon! It's sweet smelling, it smells like a cinnamon bun instead of the earthy smell cinnamon usually has, this cinnamon is amazing.

The remaining product was cinnamon chips, I made pancakes with some of the chips, add them to the batter while you're mixing it up for better cooking and distribution of chips. We wanted to take pictures of the pancakes but we ate them so quickly by the time I realized we forgot to take pictures I had polished off the last one! Picture the best looking pancake you've ever seen.....I'll give you a second.........ok it was better looking and tasting than that pancake. Take my word on it, I'm an expert. The cinnamon collection from King Arthur Flour sells for $24.95 and is worth every penny, it makes a great gift for Mother's day or Father's day or just buy it because you want someone to think you're cool. Again, I'm an expert. Well I like to think I am.

Just in case anyone is interested in the recipe I used here it is:
Buttery Cinnamon Cake

I tweaked the recipe a bit I added a swirl in the middle using the King Arthur Cinnamon filling mix. And added a:
Streusel Topping:
1/2 cup flour
4 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons King Arthur Vietnamese Cinnamon

Buy it:
