Jody's Popcorn - Review

 About Jody's (from the website)

Jody and her husband, Alan, always enjoyed visiting different resort areas and feasting on fresh caramel corn. In fact, when they lived in Chicago, a great date included a trip to a caramel corn store and a long walk munching on the delicacy.
In 2005 Virginia Beach opened a new luxury Hilton oceanfront hotel with the 31 Ocean Shops across the street. The shops contain unique boutique stores. Alan and Jody decided to bring caramel corn to Virginia Beach at the 31 Ocean Shops. They signed the lease, hired the architect, tried all of the commercial caramel corn recipes, and agreed that they did not have a caramel corn recipe that was good enough!http://www.jodyspopcorn.com/graphics/store1s.jpg
Alan and Jody installed a commercial popper and caramelizer in their garage. Alan, a physician and scientist, set up a laboratory (in the garage!) and began working to develop a sweet, crunchy, delicious caramel corn. "Amazing or Bust" was his motto. Alan made batch after batch, changing small things about each recipe trial, and carefully analyzed each step. After many very late nights and weekend days, on the 53rd recipe try, he achieved perfection – Secret Recipe 53 Caramel Corn!
Similar care has gone into the creation of the other unique popcorn flavors offered at Jody’s – Chocolate Drizzle (caramel corn with white and dark chocolate drizzled on top), Chunky Choco Toffee (caramel corn with chocolate and toffee pieces), Cinnamon Toast (cinnamon flavored corn – great for breakfast), Double Cheddar, Cheesy Ranch, Ragin Cajun and several more! And Dr. Alan isn’t done – he’s still creating new recipes, however, he’s now doing it in our Jody’s test kitchen , not in the garage!

Jody’s has continued to expand its homemade treats, adding "over-the –top" irresistible gourmet caramel apples, chocolate covered apples, chocolate dipped strawberries, chocolate dipped rice crispy treats, chocolate dipped pretzels, and a variety of other unique homemade delicacies.

Popcorn is looked at as a plain and basic snack, right? Not if you buy it from Jody’s Gourmet Popcorn (http://www.jodyspopcorn.com/index.htm). Wow, so many choices! Not just the flavors either, they have an assortment of gift packs and tins for the sports fan in your life and something that I thought was very nice was personalized popcorn for your wedding! It’s a great idea for wedding favors, delicious popcorn with a personalized touch!

My Review:

We received a sampling of their popcorn and well it didn’t last long! What we received was:  double cheddar, white cheddar, recipe 53 caramel corn and funfetti. My husband and daughter fought each other for the funfetti which is candy coated popcorn, it’s good, I had 1 piece. I ate the caramel corn which was really good, really good.

It’s Jody’s secret recipe, I figured out the secret….it’s a cup of deliciousness! Alright I don’t know the secret, but I do know good popcorn when I eat it and this is good popcorn. The cheddar’s were equally as good, cheese and popcorn work really well together and the cheese taste on Jody’s popcorn is very good, you can taste the difference between the white cheddar and double cheddar, all cheese is not created equal! And neither is popcorn, Jody’s popcorn is clearly the alpha corn in the world of popped corn.
