Disney World here we come, Irene get out of the way!

We just recently returned home from what was a somewhat last minute trip to the World. I was checking out airfare one day saw decent rates and decided to call my husband at work to tease him since this was going to be the first time in 6 years that we would not be going to WDW. He managed to get convince me it was a good idea to go and the next thing I know I’m booking a trip. I’m still not sure how he managed to convince me…. Reasonable airfare and free food is always a good thing and really who needs a valid reason to want to go to WDW?!

Since Irene was looming South West gave us the option of moving our flight up for free which we did and instead of flying out Saturday morning we flew out Friday night, something we’ve never done in all of our trips to the World our MO is get the earliest flight possible. On our flight down they took a different route to avoid Irene tacking on an extra hour in the sky but we were only a few hundred miles away from the storm and the Captain told us that they could see Irene’s eye, which we couldn’t see since it was dark and since I’m not the best flier maybe that was a good thing. It was odd MCO was all quiet when we landed, we’re used to the hustle and bustle of that airport so to see it closed up and quiet was different.

We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter which has become our second favorite hotel behind the Poly, we love the theming, they have a cool pool and the room size is pretty nice. One of the nice things about going to WDW so frequently is that we don’t have to go commando, we take our time and go at our own pace. It’s a stark change from when I first went with my husband (boyfriend at that time) we ran ourselves ragged because we thought we’d go once and that would be it…..yeah right! We take our time and I really enjoy this, you still get tired and sore because no matter how slow you take things you’re still walking A LOT.

More to come....

We were there the same time but leaving Monday and our flight was cancelled on Saturday due to Irene. We had lost power and tried to rebook on the phone. It was bad. We finally got a later flight on Monday but it was a lot of work to do that. We like the French Quarter a lot too and Poly is our favorite but we stayed at the Grand Floridian this time and really loved it!
It was a great time to visit. So glad we got there!!
