Nutrisystem - Week 1 #NSNation

Week one on Nutrisystem went by so quickly. All in all It was a great success. The first few days were the toughest. I am a snacker, and with this program the junky snacks  I like are a  no no, but I fought through the snack cravings. But I have to admit the first days were tough, I was a bit hungry at times. I am happy to say I was not starving though. And by the 4th day I was not as hungry. The Women's 28-Day plan comes with gourmet fresh-frozen foods and  pantry ready foods. The pantry ready box had a Starter Kit a welcome letter; a women's meal planner (I can use it as a food diary to keep track of what I am eating) ; a resource guide ; and a 32oz water bottle , I have to fill that and drink 2 bottles a day. The website, has also been a help. If I have any questions or concerns they are they to help.

First let me show you the shipment of great choices I was sent:

My full freezer!

As my first week ends I have learned many things, first and foremost. I learned that I am stronger than I thought. I can do this, and I will do this. I learned that drinking water is really not that bad, and I am getting the hang of it. The only downfall there is I am always in the restroom!

The hardest part of dieting for me is what should I eat, and how much? Reading labels was never my strong point.
The best part about Nutrisystem is they have done all the work for me! I don’t have to measure, I don’t have to count points, the meals are color coded as well. It is such an easy system. Blue items are breakfast item, green are lunch items, red are dinner entrees, and pink are dessert.  You will still have to add some  fruits, vegetables, proteins and carbs to your diet routine. But I did not find that difficult. When at work the meals were just so convenient.  I was able to fight off all of the temptations at work. Someone brought in a huge bag of fresh baked pretzels! And I did not touch one, I was a good girl. It was tough that day. But I came out on top and did not stray.  I was so proud of myself!

So let’s get to the important  question I know you are all asking. How is the food? Could prepackaged food be good?  Well I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the food. The  choices are great, and the size of the meals is not bad at all. And the taste?  Well the taste is pretty good.  The chocolate chip breakfast muffins were good, and I loved the pizza and my favorite dinner by far was the Asian Style Beef, it reminded me of one of my favorite take out foods, it was delicious! And the desserts are awesome!  The frozen fudge bars was so so good! It reminded me of the fudgy wudgey bars we would get on the beach when I was a child. What a blast for the past.

An example of a day’s meal was

Breakfast: Breakfast Burrito ( the burrito was filled with beans and eggs, it was quite delicious and filling) and a low-fat yogurt.

Lunch: Three Cheese pasta with chicken (this was creamy and was easy to keep at my desk at work)  8 ounces of string cheese.

Snack – one small apple

Dinner: Salisbury Steak and Macaroni and cheese with a side salad with cucumbers with dressing as my fat option.

Dessert – Mint Chocolate Crunch bar.

Does that seem like a lot of food? Well it is!  The Salisbury Steak and Macaroni and cheese is wonderful! It is so flavorful and just reminds me of my mom’s Salisbury Steak. As soon as you get into the swing of the diet you will not be hungry, and you will love the results!

So now comes the weigh in part, how has the diet/lifestyle change worked for me? With my time on Nutrisystem I hope to lose 30 pounds and keep it off. So far…………..

I have lost 4.5 lbs!

I am so happy! And I am so looking forward to the coming weeks, as I begin my new life. Wish me luck :)
