Holiday Gift Guide: Journey Gym - Review (And a Giveaway $245.00 value)

Health is a Journey

Are you ready for a New Year's resolution? I know sometime it is "I will start working out".. and sometimes that never really happens. But for 2012 really do it this time with a Journey Gym.

About The Journey Gym (from the website)

The journey gym is a complete, lightweight, compact and durable universal gym.  It is efficient in giving users a total body workout and will allow anyone to use it as their primary source of resistance, cardiovascular, and circuit training.  The journey gym comes with:
  • 30 resistance bands (five on each side plus ten additional bands) for a customizable resistance system of 5 to 75 pounds per side.
  • One set of adjustable handles so resistance only begins when you are in the correct position.
  • Full set of legs which are used to raise the gym into a stair stepper for a full cardio workout.
  • A workout DVD specifically designed for the gym with a 5 minute set up video, a 10 minute circuit tone workout and a 20 minute circuit strength workout.
  • A free online community at www.journeygym.com where you are able to create exercise videos, track your activity and nutrition, and share your progress with friends and family.

My Review:

I have to admit at first I was anti working out, I dreaded the thought of doing anything but sitting on the couch watching television and stuffing my face with hollow calories. I hadn’t noticed I was packing on the pounds until I was looking at pictures of myself from one of our many trips to the World and I asked my wife when did I get fat? I knew the answer, and I knew how and why it happened and I needed to fix it and fast!
For the past three years I’ve been around my goal weight consistently and have been able to keep the weight off by eating right and *GASP* working out religiously.

I love riding my exercise bike and lifting free weights mostly and when I happen to miss a day I feel like I did something awful. I happen to miss days every time we vacation and it would bug me. I know I could use the Grand Floridian’s gym it’s only a short walk from the Poly but once I’m back in the room I really don’t want to go out to get sweaty again and have to walk back after an hour or so of working out. What could I do? What I can do is now take along my Journey Gym this little wonder is the answer to all my how can I work out while on vacation questions.
The Journey Gym uses resistance bands which are very effective for working out; I’ve used them in the past and have had tremendous success with them. The really nice thing is that everything you need is stored inside the case and the case acts as both a bench for doing bench presses but it also allows you to use it as a stepper to make sure you get your cardio in. This portable gym is amazing, set up was simple and within minutes I was doing biceps curls while watching football.

The Journey Gym is useful for every level of exercising beginners to hard core gym rats will have a use for this portable wonder. There are three levels of bands to use: light, medium and heavy. I used the heavy and the mediums together to get more resistance, heavy just wasn’t giving me enough of a workout so I clipped the medium band on and that gave me the resistance I was looking for and I could really feel the burn. And not to worry if you snap a band (which I have done in the past and let me tell you it HURTS!) you get replacement bands along with your gym so swapping out a broken band for a new one is a snap (no pun intended.)

Everything on this gym is customizable; it will work for everyone no matter what size or skill level. And if you’re a novice no worries the included DVD will not only help you set up your gym but will provide you with a 10 minute toning work out and a 20 minute strength work out. I followed the workout and was pleased with how I felt, it’s important to change your routines to confuse your muscles that way you achieve greater success at a faster rate. The Journey Gym will help you get into shape and stay there!

With the holidays right around the corner, not sure what to get someone? Do you know someone who is trying to get into shape, or dieting? This would be great even in the smallest apartment! Anyone can work out. A Journey Gym would make a great gift. Make sure you check out The Journey Gym, your body will thank you.

The most unusual place I would use the journey gym if I win would be in my hotel room; I would take it with me on my frequent road trips to get in a workout away from home.

I'd use it at my mother-in-law's, while not an unusual place, it would be under duress because she will make fun of me the entire time and give me grief just like she does when she's at our house and I work out. Yes, I'm chunky but I'm working on it...Raffle Copter: happi shopr
