Holiday Gift Guide: Mehlenbacher's Taffy Review - And a Giveaway)

Do you love taffy? Well I sure do and Mehlenbacher's Taffy  is unlike any taffy I have ever seen!

About Mehlenbacher's Taffy (from the website)

Starting with an original recipe from the early 1900s, our taffy is heated to the proper temperature. When cool to the touch, the taffy is hand pulled on a hook as natural oils and flavorings are added. To complete the process, the taffy is placed on a work surface and pulled into strips which are cut, weighed, wrapped and labeled by hand. As you can easily see, our taffy is very much a part of the present! Once you try it, we think you'll agree that Mehlenbacher's Taffy is the finest taffy available today.

Our taffy contains no preservatives and has a shelf life of six to eight months. It may be refrigerated or frozen and will return to it's original texture and quality when it reaches room temperature.
We are always creating new flavors. Check our website often to see our latest flavors and combinations we have available.

My Review:

Our family loves taffy! Good taffy just brings me back to my childhood. Growing up we would vacation at the jersey shore each summer. And it was not a summer vacation without picking up some taffy. I was so excited when I had the chance to try some taffy from Mehlenbacher's Taffy. Would it live up to the hand pulled taffy we would watch being made each year on the boardwalk when I was a child?

Well I am happy to say, yes it is just like the taffy I had growing up. Well they make it the same way, this is handmade and is a true Artisan taffy. This is made in small batches and is pulled by hand just like they did 100 years ago.

One thing that makes this taffy different from any taffy I have ever had is…. The size they are HUGE! I am amazed! It is over 5 inches! It makes the taffy I have had in the past look like miniatures!

I love the crazy flavors that Mehlenbacher's Taffy carries. From eggnog to chocolate strawberry and so much more. They are unique, and sound delicious. I was able to try a Dutch Apple Pie taffy. Apple taffy? Wow that really was delicious. It had just the right amount of apple flavoring, and I think I detected a small amount of cinnamon as well. My daughter’s favorite was the cotton candy flavor, it was a great color pink and blue swirl. She said it tasted just like cotton candy. Another favorite was lemon cheesecake. I am a huge lemon fan and a big cheesecake fan, would this taffy really capture the 2 flavors.  Yes! It can be done! The taffy was sweet, and chewy and had the right taffy consistency.

Wouldn’t you love some great taffy under the tree this year, or perhaps in a stocking. Mehlenbacher's Taffy would make a great gift. They offer all kinds of taffy gifts, from large gift packs, to smaller 8 pack bags (a great stocking stuffer) not quite sure what flavors you would like to try? You can purchase single taffy sticks to try them all!
