Holiday Gift Guide: Pop The Pig by Goliath Games - Review

Pop the Pig

Everyone takes turns to roll the die to see how many chomps the pig will take. Push down the pig's head to chomp the burger. With every pump, the pig's stomach will get bigger, bigger, and bigger. But don't feed him too much because if he pops, you lose!

Our daughter loves to play board games, but she hates putting them away so we tend to only play board games on a not so frequent basis. Too many pieces and too complicated are generally what we have to deal with and since she’s 6 ½ going on 22 the typical kid games are too kiddy for her.  We were sent a game from Goliath called Pop the Pig (http://www.goliathgames.us/popthepig.html) when I mentioned that to my daughter she got all excited and started blathering on and on about the game, I shouldn’t be astonished as to what she knows any more she’s a rather astute little girl.

Pop the Pig is great, it has all the aspects of a kid’s game you could want, it’s easy to play and there aren’t a million pieces! It’s a simple premise roll the dice, pick up a burger of the corresponding color and see how many times you need to push the pigs head down. When you push his head down it begins to grow a little bigger and as the game goes on you see his stomach will look like its about to pop and when it pops the game is over.

And you never know when the pop will occur, we had it happen a few burgers into the game and others we had it last until the last push of the pigs head. And when he pops you jump, we all jump and you know it’s coming and yet you still jump!

This game is great, we’ve already played it a bunch of times and it doesn’t get old. It’s a simple game with only a few pieces that everyone can enjoy, and you will enjoy it just as you will jump every time his belly pops!

This would make a great gift! My daughter sure loves it, and a kid on your holiday list will love it too.
