Exergen Temporal Scanner - Review (And a Giveaway)

The TemporalScanner Thermometer is a totally non-invasive system with advanced infrared technology providing maximum ease of use with quick, consistently accurate measurements. Advanced, patented technology measures temperatures with a gentle stroke across the forehead. The TemporalScanner Thermometer is designed to measure the temperature of the skin surface over the temporal artery, a major artery of the head.

About seven years ago we had our baby shower and one of the gifts we were given was a thermometer. It’s something every parent needs; you wind up using it more often than you think you will. It was an in ear thermometer and once our daughter got old enough to realize what it was she hated it. She hated that we needed to tug on her ear to get it in and we would get bad readings constantly, it was very inconsistent.

And just recently we found out if it wasn’t equipped with the little plastic cap on the tip it wouldn’t work. Problem with that is we don’t know where to buy replacement tips! The days of the in ear thermometer are over! Thanks to Exergen  they’re made it SO much easier to get a temperature check without having to tug on your child’s ear.

With this little wonder all we have to do is place the thermometer on her forehead and lightly scan across to her temple and get a reading that is as accurate as a rectal thermometer and far more accurate than the in ear thermometers. I love the idea that if our daughter isn’t feeling well and asleep we can get an accurate reading in seconds and not have to wake her up by tugging on her ear and hoping the first shot was a good one. This thermometer couldn’t be any easier to use it really is a god send. If you are a parent and are tired of inaccurate thermometer’s give the Exergen Temporal Scanner a shot, I just wish we had one seven years ago! And since it is still tough to get my daughters temperature when she is sick (as I am sure it is tough for any parent) I am so glad we now have this thermometer.

With the holidays right around the corner, a Exergen Temporal Scanner would be a great gift to parents with young children.

A major reason ear thermometers are considered inaccurate by medical professionals is because the positioning of the probe in the ear canal is inconsistent, thus creating inconsistent readings and frequently missing fevers.

I learned that Doctors know that measurement of the blood temperature in a major artery accurately reflects true body temperature and the temporal scanner thermometer take the temp near temporal artery

ambient temperature affects the skin temperature, and so the thermometer automatically measures the ambient temperature at the very same time it is measuring the temperature over the temporal artery. It then can calculate any heat loss (in a normal or cold room) or gain (in a hot room), and instantly computes an accurate body temperature

I learned that The TemporalScanner Thermometer has been clinically compared to rectal thermometers and temperature sensors inserted in the heart during course of patient treatment and accepted for use in major hospitals, Wow I always thought they were accurate but this makes me certain. Especially when they tested it directly inserted into the heart.
