Holiday Gift Guide: Debbie’s Rugelach Pastry – Review

Are you looking for a great stocking stuffer? Or a wonderful gift for a family member friend, or co-worker. Well I have a great gift idea for you. If you have any sweet lovers on your holiday list this year, make sure you check out Debbie’s Rugelach. Well you might ask well what is rugelach? Here is how Debbie explains it on the site:

Rugelach is a traditional Eastern European pastry. Its name comes from the Yiddish word “rugel”, meaning “royal”. Contemporary Jewish-American rugelach descends from this tradition, using a wide variety of fillings. There is no other Jewish sweet that has become more mainstream than rugelach. Delicious for dessert with your coffee or tea, or even as a tasty snack!

There are 3 flavors available:

Traditional Currant Walnut
The original pastry that started it all! Dried currants and crunchy walnuts surrounded by cinnamon and sugar. Delicious anytime
of the day.

Decadent Chocolate Chip
If you like the combination of chocolate and cinnamon, this one’s for you! Miniature dark chocolate chips encased in our flaky pastry marked with a little crunchy sugar topping.

Very Apricot
For all you apricot fans! Moist, tart dried apricots with just the right amount of cinnamon and sugar for a not too sweet indulgence.

My Review:

Debbie’s Rugelach is a growing company that is based in the San Francisco Bay area, they recently were a part of the gift baskets for the MTV Music awards this past summer. I was very fortunate to be able to try an assortment of Debbie’s Rugelach. I have had rugelach years and years ago, so I was familiar with this sweet treat.

My husband had never tried rugelach, he did not even know what it was. After I opened the box, he was hovering you could just smell the cinnamon. And as you all know my husband is the a big fan of cinnamon and he was very interested to find out exactly what rugelach was.

My daughter just loved the Decadent Chocolate Chip, I have to admit it was good. It reminded me of Mexican hot chocolate (Mexican hot chocolate is a mix of chocolate and cinnamon) it was quite delicious. My husband loved all of them of course, they are full of cinnamon goodness. But his favorite was the Currant Walnut he said it has just the right combination of tart and sweet.

I shared some with my in-laws as well, they are always open to trying new things, and they loved Debbie’s Rugelach. My mother in-law gushed about the apricot, be just loved the sweet flavor. She said it reminded her of something her mother used to make. The rugelach would be great with coffee, as a dessert or just as a snack.

Debbie’s Rugelach tastes like homemade because, there are no preservatives or coloring in the rugelach. And every batch that is made is overseen by Debbie personally.

I have to say the rugelach were made with care, each were generously  filled and sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon. There was no skimping at all. It is nice to see there are still company’s out there that still care about their product.  Debbie’s Rugelach is a quality product.

For the holidays Debbie’s Rugelach is giving you an additional treat. For every $25 you spend you will receive a free 6-piece assorted bag!  If you refer 2 friends you also receive a free 6-piece assorted bag . That is such a great deal!

With the holidays right around the corner why not give a little different gift this year, sure chocolates are great but why not give a unique gift that will stand out and will be loved. I would recommend Debbie’s Rugelach for anyone who loves pastries. The rugelach are the ultimate bite (well a very large bite) sized pastries for the sweet lover in your family. The whole family will enjoy them, why not give them a try. The small packages of 8 are $9.95. And the larger packs of  18 are $19.95.  The small must be the same flavor.  The large may be the same flavor or the 18 piece box of all 3 assorted flavors—six each. And they  offer a piece assorted bag for $7.95. This would be great to freeze, and bring out for a party. Anyone having a new year’s party? This would be a great addition, what a way to ring in the new year.
