A Day at Krispy Kreme!

Last Saturday Jersey Family fun gave some local bloggers  the chance to take a little Krispy Kreme tour.  http://www.krispykremephilly.com/
I was fortunate to get a behind the scenes look at a local Krispy Kreme, in Collingswood NJ
Would you believe I had never been in a Krispy Kreme before? Yes I have had the delicious donuts. But Krispy Kreme’s are pretty rare here in the Northeast so this was my first visit to a store.

And I have to say I was impressed, it was so bright and clean, and the smell of the delicious donuts was drool inducing! There were so very many delicious treats! I would have loved to have tried them all!

I never knew that the donuts are not made in the Krispy Kreme shops. The donuts are shipped to the shops fresh and the shops add the glaze and the fillings and toppings.

Did you know that you have to go to school to become a Krispy Kreme manager? Well it is a Krispy Kreme academy. That sounds like a much better school than the college I went to! So much more interesting and fun!
The manager, Jim was a very nice guy that told us all about the journey the donuts make from the factory to the store.

Here is a look at the “preview” window. You can see how the donuts are glazed.

A few fellow bloggers and my family were able to go in the kitchen and frost our own donuts! Yes it is exciting as it sounds, a big vat of warm chocolate frosting and we were able to dip and top our own donuts with sprinkles.  It is harder than you think to dip a donut, the vat is almost like a whirl pool it wants to suck the donut in! My donut was super covered with chocolate! But what is wrong with too much icing.. nothing really : )

My daughter had a great time and the donuts we had were good. We all had a nice time.

I just want to thank Jennifer from Jersey Family Fun and Jim the manager of Krispy Kreme for this great opportunity.

If you are interested in finding out more about birthday parties at Krispy Kreme make sure to visit the Krispy Kreme site.
