Absentia, a great horror movie from Phase 4 Films

Do you like scary movies? Well I surely do, it doesn’t have to be around Halloween time for me to get into the scary movie mood. I am always up for a good thriller.  I recently had the chance to review a good thriller Absentia, a movie from Phase 4 films.

Tricia's husband has been missing for seven years. Her younger sister Callie comes to live with her as the pressure mounts to finally declare him 'dead in absentia.' As Tricia sifts through the wreckage and tries to move on with her life, Callie finds herself drawn to an ominous tunnel near the house. As she begins to link it to other mysterious disappearances, she comes to the realization that his presumed death might be anything but 'natural.' Soon it becomes clear that the ghostly force at work in the tunnel might have set its sights on Callie and Tricia too.

I am such a fan of horror movies. I always have been. I just love a good scare. Now I have to say this movie does not disappoint!  Oh the horror, and the gore! I knew this was going to be a good one, if a horror film wins awards it has to be good…. This film won,

“Official selection of the Fantasia film festival 2011”
“Winner best horror feature Shreikfest 2011”
“Winner best narrative feature Sonoma international film festival 2011”
“Official selection Toronto After Dark 2011”

Wow that is pretty impressive, but would the movie be as good as it seems? I could not wait to find out. Well I have to say after seeing this movie I can tell why this got so many awards. This movie was great! What a unique horror movie, this really kept my attention and scared me just like a horror movie should.

Absentia is well written and directed (and yes I am talking about a horror movie) this is not a run of the mill senseless horror blood and guts movie that makes no sense.  This is an interesting, dark movie that you will remember and want to watch again. I loved the actors as well, there were no flat lifeless actors here. This was made well and made to scare you, and I have to say it accomplished its goals. I would rank this in my top 10 horror movie favorites, so you can tell this is a winner! My only question is when is the sequel coming out, I must find out what happens next!

I would recommend this movie for a person who loves a good scare, and a cool horror story line (I have seen quite a few horror movies with absolutely no plot, I just saw blood and guts and nothing else no story at all.) that kept me on the edge of my seat!

Make sure to check out this great trailer, I am sure you will be hooked, and want to pick the movie up. But warning the trailer is not for the faint of heart.
