We are Glad, to now ‘waste less’

I know that earth day comes once a year on 4/22. Everyone gets together and cleans up and recycles. That is a great thing, and I love earth day.

But to me everyday should be earth day, there should not be just one day that we make the earth special. The earth is our home, and every day at home is special.  I was recently a Glad "waste less" pack to help us wast less, the pack included,

Glad Force Flex - Odor Shield (with Febreze freshness)
Glad Tall Kitchen bags
Compostable Bags
and a handy canvas bag.

I always try to recycle, reuse and repourpose as mush as I can. I want to be able to waste less, and not add to landfills, it is an important thing to me.  I want to set a good example for my daughter. We only have one earth and I want to show her that I care, and I want her to care just as much as I do. When I told my daughter that we would try composting, I was surprised to find out that she knew what it was, and was so excited to do this.

I know I am raising her right...  I just love the bags with the Febreze scent this will help us use the bag longer, hiding the scent of the garbage and letting the bag get more filled and used more. These Glad Tall kitchen bags, are stronger with using less plastic so there is less waste.

I love to use canvas bags while shopping so, this glad canvas bag is great. I don't want to get paper or plastic bags when I go to the supermarket... that is just more trash and waste to deal with. Canvas/reusable bags are the way to go for us.

We are excited to start composting, just another way to help mother earth. I am just waiting for my compost bin to arrive, and we are ready to start. If you are not familiar with composting, it is a simple process, here is the definition from the dictionary:

compost -
A mixture of decayed or decaying organic matter used to fertilize soil. Compost is usually made by gathering plant material, such as leaves, grass clippings, and vegetable peels, into a pile or bin and letting it decompose as a result of the action of aerobic bacteria, fungi, and other organisms.

Glad compostable trash bags are made with 40% vegetable-based materials, this means they’ll disintegrate at municipal compost facilities.

I am looking forward to keeping the compost bin in the kitchen. I will fill it with excess from veggies, fruits and other items. You can even put paper towels and napkins in there. Just another great way to recycle.

Make sure to check out this video, it is about the compositng in NYC.
