Though his grandmother (Leachman) and grandfather (Bev Appleton) are happy to host him, they warn Steven not to enter the cornfields next to their house.

Meanwhile, Steven hears news of the notorious Manson Family and their gruesome killing spree. He develops a morbid fascination with the murderous cult and at the same time he can't help but be drawn into the mysterious cornfields. Eventually he enters the fields, where he makes a terrible discovery. Then, menacing noises begin haunting the family from outside at night and soon turn to violence. Though Steven's family tries to protect him, whatever's lurking in the fields is about to make their lives a living nightmare.

Our Take:

I have been a fan of scary movies since I was a kid. I just love a good scare, and I had the chance to review a new horror movie “The Fields” this movie was released 4/24/12.

My husband and I had a bit of a date night my mother in-law was watching my daughter, and we went out to eat, and just hung out together. When we got home I wanted to watch The Fields.  Make sure the kids are asleep this, is not a movie for them.

This was a very scary movie… a movie that made you think and really scared you. If you are looking for a “horror” movie with lots of blood and guts, well this is not the movie you are looking for. If you want to really be scared, watch a movie that is made well, and the fact that this is based on actual events really freaked me out. Horrifying stuff. Showing the horror in the eyes of a child, for me that makes the movie even more frightening. The young boy who played Stephen was a wonderful actor, he really made it seem like I was there with him.

Being from PA this was even more scary for me, I know of so very many fields like this and that is so creepy!

This is not the run of the mill thriller, it is an award winning movie, this film has won numerous awards including, Best Feature Terror film festival 2011, Best Feature Buffalo Niagara Film Festival 2011, and The Fields was also an official selection for numerous other festivals.  The extras are great as well, the stuff with Cloris Leachman, is hilarious, she is one funny lady!

What would it be like to find a body?? And what if they are coming after you next? Well my husband and I were impressed with The Field, and you will love it too. I don’t want to spoil the movie for you, but if you want to see a scary movie with an actual plot and story line The Fields is for you. Make sure to check out the trailer below.
