Kitchen Appliances That Will Make Your Life Easier

While it’s true that the most valued appliances in the kitchen tend to be your refrigerator and your oven, but there are a few appliances out there that can greatly simplify your culinary life. Here’s our top five suggestions for kitchen counter helpers:

Slow cooker
When you’re working full-time, it can be difficult to resist the lure of a takeaway. A slow cooker affords you a simple, low-maintenance way of cooking healthy meals. Use it to make soups, casseroles or Sundayroasts. We recommend that you invest in a programmable model to ensure that dinner is waiting for you the moment you arrive home.

Multi-purpose food processor
This dual appliance offers you the best of both worlds and can save you a lot of money in the meantime, as there’s no need to buy a dedicated blender or food processor. Make sure your model has a secure fitting lid and a built in measuring tab.

A good set of knives
Okay, so not exactly an appliance, but with all the gadgets out there, it can be easy to overlook the real essentials. Sharp, sturdy knives shave off so much time when cooking, ask a professional chef, and you’ll find that a good set of knives will never be too far away from the top of their list of kitchen must-haves.

Coffee maker
Just because everyone else is on a health kick, it doesn’t mean you should forgo one of life’s simple pleasures. There’s nothing like the smell of freshly brewed coffee. When shopping around, remember that there’s coffee machines for every budget. Manual coffee makers can be just as effective at making a good cup of coffee as the sleeker, more expensive models.

Bread machine
If you’re never really sure what goes into your store-bought bread, why don’t you produce your own fresh bread every morning? From rye to sourdough, the purchase of a good bread machine will enable you to explore a range of different possibilities. Most models also allow you to add your ingredients at night so you can wake up to a bakery-fresh batch of homemade bread the next morning.

What have I missed?
A bit sneaky to include a sixth item on a top five list, but don’t forget about the much-maligned microwave.It is a must for people on the go, especially if you are cooking large meals on the weekend to see you through the week.
