Do you know a parent that is doing an amazing job? Minute Maid knows they are Doing Great! #DoinGood #DiMeMedia

I’m thankful for a lot of things in my life, far too many to list here. But there is something… someone I am really thankful for. Her name is Kim, she’s a single mother who is doing amazing things, not just for her family, but for mine as well.

Being a single mom of 3 is rough; I can see the toll it takes on her, but she keeps plugging away and doing what she can to give her kids the life they deserve. A few years back when my daughter switched schools, she developed a case of selective mutism. She would only speak to 4 people willingly and it made our lives difficult. In her new school she was taking French lessons and she was really enjoying it and becoming quite good at speaking the language. Kim would see my daughter and say hi and, as with everyone not counted among the lucky 4, she’d just duck her head and say nothing.
Kim knew my daughter loved French, and what I had forgotten is that Kim was fluent in French and had taught it for several years. Fast forward a week and Kim says hello to my daughter again, but this time she said bonjour (and some other words that made no sense to this non-French speaking person!). Well, that struck a nerve with my daughter. Instead of looking down she looked up and tried her best to reply back! She spoke to someone out of her circle of trust! It was a monumental breakthrough because she became communicative again.
Sadly, due to budget cuts, the school had to drop the language department. This was an awful blow and we weren’t sure what to do. We didn’t want the lessons to stop, but didn’t know where to turn.

So I asked the only person whom I thought might be able to give me an answer and that was the only other person I knew who spoke French, and that was Kim. She told me not to worry about finding a teacher because she would do it! I wanted to say thank you but I asked her how?! I mean this is a woman who works 2 jobs and has kids of her own. But, she said we’d find the time. She was just happy to pass her love of French on to my daughter. I was stunned. Here we are, 3 years later, and my daughter gets her weekly French lessons and loves it! No matter how tired or busy she is, Kim makes time for the lesson and I can’t be any more appreciative.
We’re about ready to hit the holiday season in full force and I know things aren’t the best for Kim and her kids, but she’s doing what she can the best she can. We just wanted to show our appreciation for what she’s doing for us and our daughter.  Kim is such a kind hearted, selfless person that she is wanted nothing in return for the lessons but she got something in return since she’s doin’ good (I’ll keep that personal) not only for her kids, but for mine as well; she had to know how much we appreciate her. And i'm happy to say that my daughter isn’t a mute any more. The exposure of being around Kim and her kids helped loosen up whatever had a grip on her and made her go silent. That is a gift I can’t ever repay!

When the school had Special Person’s day and that special person would be able to go to school with and join in on the celebration, my daughter chose Kim and she wouldn’t have it any other way. To be able to juggle life, family and friends and playing the role of both mother and father is rough, and that’s why I thought she needed to read this and see just what she means to her family and ours. To have 3 well adjusted, well-behaved and smart kids is a testament to the great job this wonderful woman is doing on her own.
Life isn’t perfect for anyone, but it’s up to us to make the most out of what we’re handed. Hit it head on and get the most out of life is a mantra that we believe in and it’s something we see others around us doing. So we should let them know they’re doin’ good!

I think this is such a great idea. Parenting is hard, and it's nice to let parents know that they're doing a good job.

I have to say that I am always amazed by the parenting that my Hubby does. Sometimes I just watch in awe... he has such a great way of calming them when they need it and loving on them all the time.

Sometimes it's great to stop and let parents know just how good of a job they are doing. Also, Minute Maid is tasty!

We should be more supportive to each other. Being a parent is hard enough without all the judgement.
