Even more great books from Disney Publishing coming soon!

I remember when I was a kid you could not get me away from reading my books. I loved to visit distant lands and go on adventures, from space to under the sea my imagination traveled everywhere thanks to the great books in my life. I love to share books as gifts, be it a book that you read or for younger kids a book that is read to them books are so very important. Here are some amazing new books coming to a store near you (and online) soon from Disney Publishing.

The first book is for the really little ones, the Preschool – Kindergarten crowd. This picture book is called Off & Away by Author-illustrator Cale Atkinson. How would you get mail if you lived in the middle of the sea? It's Jo's dad's job to deliver it, taking bottles wherever they need to go. He always comes home with exciting stories to tell-but Jo is far too afraid to go out on the ocean herself. Until Dad gets a bad sea cold, that is. With no one but Jo to deliver the bottles, she must find her courage and set sail alone. As she embarks on her mission, her fears just might be replaced with new friendships and grand stories of her own. Retail price is $16.99. Best for ages 3-5. On sale on June 5th, 2018.

Burning Magic (Shadow Magic #3)  by Joshua Khan- This is the third and final installment in the Shadow Magic trilogy, when Lily, aka the "witch queen" and bat-rider extraordinaire Thorn travel to Sultanate of Fire, things go terribly wrong. Instead of celebrating a reunion with their old friend K'leef, they are thrust into royal murder, an epic quest, and a deadly battle for the throne. While investigating the murder, Lily learns shocking truths about her life that could destroy all she has achieved. Yet, among the ruins of her old life, she has the opportunity to become someone greater . . . and more terrifying.
Thorn and the magnificent bat, Hades, join the timid K'leef and the idiotic Gabriel Solar in a quest to find a phoenix. These fire birds are the key to saving the sultanate, but they nest within the Shardlands. The boys must defeat not only the monsters of that magical wilderness, but also rivals eager to claim the throne for themselves. Rivals that include a renegade from House Shadow . . . Chilling surprises, ghostly encounters, and belly laughs are just some of the treats in store for readers of this burning-hot desert adventure. Best for ages 8-12. On sale on April 10th, 2018. Retail price $16.99.

The Mortification of Fovea Munson - by Mary Winn Heider Author, Chi Birmingham Illustrator - Fovea Munson is nobody's Igor. True, her parents own a cadaver lab where they perform surgeries on dead bodies. And yes, that makes her gross by association, at least according to everyone in seventh grade. And sure, Fovea's stuck working at the lab now that her summer camp plans have fallen through. But she is by no means Dr. Frankenstein's snuffling assistant! That is, until three disembodied heads, left to thaw in the wet lab, start talking. To her. Out loud. What seems like a nightmare, or bizarre hallucination, is not. Fovea is somebody's Igor, all right. Three somebodies, actually. And they need a favor.

If your child is a fan of the science fiction type kids’ books this is the book for them. In The Mortification of Fovea Munson, a 13 year old girl is forced to spend her summer vacation working at her parents' cadaver lab, a place where she makes some new friends. In a lab? Well yes! This is a cute book with a fun story that will be great read for 8-12 year olds.  This book is being released on June 5, 2018, and retails for $16.99.

Thomas Paine and the Dangerous Word - by Sarah Jane Marsh, & Ed Fotheringham - As an English corset-maker's son, Thomas Paine was expected to spend his life sewing women's underwear. But as a teenager, Thomas dared to change his destiny, enduring years of struggle until a meeting with Benjamin Franklin brought Thomas to America in 1774-and into the American Revolution. Within fourteen months, Thomas would unleash the persuasive power of the written word in Common Sense-a brash wake-up call that rallied the American people to declare independence against the mightiest empire in the world.  Book is to be released on May 29th, 2018. Best for ages 4-8. The book retails for $19.99.

I love historical books, especially books that are geared towards children. This book will bring the kids back to The American Revolution and take them on a journey!
God Bless America: The Story of an Immigrant Named Irving Berlin- by Adah Nuchi (Author), Rob Polivka (Illustrator) - In this nonfiction picture book about the origins of the song focuses on Irving Berlin and the experience he had as a Jewish immigrant. Persecuted as Jews, Izzy Baline and his family emigrated from Russia to New York, where he fell in love with his new country. He heard music everywhere and was full to bursting with his own.

Izzy's thump-two-three, ting-a-ling, whee tunes soon brought him acclaim as the sought-after songwriter Irving Berlin. He ignited the imaginations of fellow countrymen and women with his Broadway and Hollywood numbers, crafting tunes that have become classics we still sing today. This is the tale of how a former refugee gave America one of its most celebrated patriotic songs. With stirring, rhythmic text by Adah Nuchi and delightful, energetic art by Rob Polivka, readers will be ready to hum along to this exuberant picture book. Book is available June 5, 2018. Best for ages 7-11. Retails for $18.99.

As a grandchild of immigrants, I appreciate learning about the journey and loved for the kids in my family to read about how one person gave America one if its most loved songs, The pictures are great and the story is heartwarming.
