If you told me when I was a little girl, that someday I would see over 19 Marvel comic book movies, I would have looked at you like you were nuts! But here we are a few weeks after the Infinity Wars hit the theaters and I’m going to talk about the movie that hit just a few months prior, Black Panther.
T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) returns to Wakanda as its newly crowned king (after the death of his father) and main protector, but he’s met with resistance from an adversary, Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), that goes back a long way between the two, this treachery could prove to be a global incident, and it is us to the new king to figure out what to do. With the help of C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman) and the Wakandan spec-ops, they all have their jobs to do help keep Wakanda out of a global war.
Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
“Black Panther” stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, with Angela Bassett, with Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis.
I enjoyed this movie, it is arguably one of the best Marvel movies to be made (I’m still standing by Winter Soldier as the best ever.) It wasn’t perfect, it did have it’s ugh moments, but overall I enjoyed it. It was cool to see a combination of traditional Africa mixed in with high tech. Wakanda is a very tech-forward country while Africa as a whole isn’t.
They blended traditional with technology very well in this movie. The visuals in this movie are simply stunning. My husband said he wasn’t sure if he was watching Black Panther or Star Wars due to the futuristic cityscapes, they looked great. The costuming was also another thing to watch for, the costumes in this movie are simply gorgeous! While my husband is looking for accuracy to the comics, I'm sitting there looking at all the costumes.

Black Panther is a very good movie, if you're a fan of the MCU you will like this movie. While not perfect (what movie is? I can hear my husband yelling EMPIRE STRIKES BACK at me in my head,) Black Panther was a very fun movie, a lot of action, and something completely different than any other Marvel movie we've seen so far. With 19 MCU movies to date, Black Panther is in the upper echelon of MCU movies in my opinion.
And the perk of re-watching movies on Blu-Ray? THE PERKS! The perks on this Blu-Ray include deleted scenes, a gag reel, a roundtable with the creator's and Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years-Connecting the Universe. That helps tie everything together in a nice bow. I give it a thumbs up, hopefully, you'll enjoy it as much as I did!
