Celebrate National Egg Month by making an Cinnamon Almond Egg Custard Pie! #Recipe #Giveaway

Did you know that May is National Egg Month? Yes, it is! It is the perfect time to enjoy some of your favorite recipes that highlight eggs. A time for an “egg-ucation” refresh. When choosing your eggs, it’s important to pick an option that’s good for you, your family, and the hens. An egg doing it the right way? Pete and Gerry’s Organic Eggs are Certified Humane, Free Range eggs, this means that the hens are free to roam outside, peck at the ground, dustbathe and act like real hens.

In honor of National Egg Month, Pete and Gerry’s Organic Eggs wanted to help me create an “eggs-tra” delicious recipe for you and your family. The first recipe that came to mind is an old family favorite! The classic Old-Fashioned Egg Custard pie, with a twist a little different take that my family really enjoys, a Cinnamon Almond Egg Custard Pie. It is smooth sweet and delicious, and super easy to make. I am sure your family will love it as much as mine does. Be sure to check out the recipe and try it out, I would love to hear what you think of it.

Cinnamon Almond Egg Custard Pie

Ingredients:
9-inch unbaked deep dish pie shell
Pete and Gerry’s Organic Eggs
2-1/4 cups milk
1 cup white sugar
1⁄4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon almond extract
1⁄4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Warm milk and butter in a pot on the stove until just before boiling, then remove from the heat. Combine the sugar, salt, and almond extract. Beat eggs well, then add eggs. Pour into unbaked shell. Sprinkle with cinnamon before baking. Bake at 400 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes. Let cool on a rack before cutting the pie.
The recipe is easy as you can see, not all pies will come out the same. They are all unique and delicious. We like our pie a little darker, but that is just our preference, if you would like a lighter pie, I would stick with the 35 minute bake time.

All year long eggs are used in everything from cakes to cookies to scrambled eggs, it is so important to choose the right egg, and yes organic matters. Whenever I can I like to purchase organic items for my family. I like knowing these items are not full of pesticides and other unnatural things that I would rather not have my family eating.
While shopping for your eggs, be sure to check out Pete and Gerry's Organic Eggs. Their free range hens lay organic eggs in Large, Extra-Large and Jumbo sizes. When they’re spring chickens, still new to egg-laying, they also will lay some Medium sized eggs. The eggs are USDA Certified Organic, have no pesticides, no added hormones, no antibiotics. These are eggs you can feel good about using in your recipes and serving to your family. Pete and Gerry’s Organic Eggs are sold in supermarkets and other food stores, in dozens, half dozen, liquid egg whites and now new Hard Boiled, Peeled and Ready to Eat packs.

While out shopping and preparing to make your amazing treats be sure to pick up some free range Pete and Gerry's Organic Eggs as the base for your great recipes.
