SmartLab Toys: Extreme Secret Formula Lab Review (And a Giveaway)

About Smart Lab Toys (from the webiste)

SmartLab Toys makes educational toys with a book component for kids ages 4 - 12. We believe that kids learn best through hands-on exploration, so we offer that experience wrapped up in a fun toy and a cool book.

In 2004, SmartLab started out with eight science kits. Two years later, we expanded into arts and crafts. Our roster of award-winning toys now stands at nearly 50 products that stimulate both sides of the brain.

Extreme Secret Formula Lab

Kids try their hand at mad science using a beaker, funnel, mix-and-measure scoop, squishy-lidded bubble test tubes, and an abundance of glow-in-the-dark powder to concoct 20 experiments that glow, ooze, and stink up the kitchen. From glow-in-the-dark alien blood to scratch-and-sniff stickers, young scientists will never have so much fun with custom-designed tools and commonly found household ingredients!

Components:
  • A Mad Lab Journal to brew up 20 concoctions
  • Beaker Funnel
  • Test tube stand
  • Mix-and-measure scoop
  • 8 g glow-in-the-dark powder
  • Mixing bowl 2 test tubes with squishy lids
  • Eyedropper
  • Sticker sheet

My Review:

We were recently sent an Extreme Secret Formula Lab Kit from Smart Lab Toys (http://www.smartlabtoys.com/extreme-secret-formula-lab-27.html,) and what a difference 30 years makes. My husband looked at the box and reminisced about his first science lab kit he received from Santa a lifetime of Christmases ago and how he was amazed his parent’s house is still standing and that he was all of his digits.

Whereas the kit we received from Smart Lab is a nice SAFE product the kit my husband had was filled with all sorts of things you’d want to keep away from a 6 year old!
We decided to make glowing slime seemed like a nice easy way to start and it was, all it required was 4 ingredients and a few pieces of kitchen equipment. The instructions are clear and concise and within no time my daughter had red glowing slime. This was a fun project we all did; it’s the kind of thing you can do on a rainy weekend to pass the time. It’s also a good way of tricking your child into learning as well, we let my daughter do all the measuring, it was messy and a struggle at first but she got the hang of it and was proud of herself that she did it.

We had a blast and now I’ve got glowing slime everywhere! Our next project will be to make the scratch and sniff stickers that have not only my daughter intrigued but me as well! We can’t wait to get started on that project. Easy and simple and most of what you need is sitting in your kitchen, this is a
great alternative to playing video games and it also gives you a chance to spend real quality time with your kids. We can't wait to make rock candy next!  Get slimed and have fun!
