Fall Recipes - Lucky Leaf Premium Pie Filling

When I think of fall I think of a family get together. As it gets colder outside, it is a great time to get inside for some food and fun. I planned a welcome to fall get together for my family. It is a good way for us all to get together, and enjoy each others company.  I invited my parents, my in-laws and a few cousins, last Saturday for welcome to fall party.

I had the opportunity to from Lucky Leaf to make the food for the party with the pie filling. What can you make with pie filling, that is not necessarily a pie? Well there are a bunch of great recipes at the lucky leaf site.

We decided we would make sweet and hot slow cooker pork. This recipe was incredibly easy to make, ) a can of Lucky Leaf Apple pie filling was used, pork, peppers and a few other ingredients. While getting the dish together I realized that I had to run to the store to pick up something, so I left my husband to prepare the ingredients. My husband did a wonderful job, he said how easy it was (and he does not cook. The biggest problem was getting the crock pot out of the basement, it was buried in the back brand new unopened, it was a wedding shower present that was just never used yet. When I came back from shopping the crock pot was ready and everything was in the pot starting the cooking process. I was impressed! So we left the cooker do its thing while we straightened up and prepared for the party. We have a small house and when we have events, it can be challenging sometimes, moving furniture etc. to accommodate the guests.

Well it is time to make the sweets! I love to bake, it is a hobby of mine, surprisingly I like the baking part, more than the eating part of the sweet making. I love to see people enjoy what I make. Carmel Apple cheesecake , this was a simple cheesecake to make, it took about 20 minutes to prepare. We made a little tweak in the recipe though, my husband and other members of the family are not fans of nuts so we did not use pecans.

Then it was time to make the last dish for the party Cherry Chocotinis. What is a Cherry Chocotini?  It is a great concoction of pudding pound cake, and cherries. And there is no alcohol in it, so it is kid friendly. I made some larger servings in martini glasses for the adults, and I made some smaller dessert glasses for the kids.

Well the guests started arriving, and they were greeted by the sweet and spicy smell of the slow cooked sweet and hot pork. Trust me the smell was mouthwatering.  We got together talked , while the kids played. Then it was time to eat. Why have we not used this slow cooker before? The pork was a huge hit, my husband loved the hot kick you got from the peppers. My in-laws loved the sweet apples, saying it reminded them of pork chops and apple sauce.

Needless to say everyone really enjoyed this dish. I will be sure to make this delicious and easy to make dish again.  Don’t forget about the dessert!  Out came the cheesecake and the chocotinis. The cheesecake was devoured, and liked by all. My father in-law just adored the caramel apple topping, and when I told him it was just Lucky Leaf apple pie topping and caramel heater up together, he said he must use this for his next cheesecake.  And last but not least the chocotinis, by this time the guests were getting pretty full! But they manged to squeeze this in J They loved the cherry and the chocolate combo, and the kids loved this the most, the little portions I made for them were a big hit!

We all had a great time with good company and good food. It was nice to get together (without the pressures of thanksgiving) and just have a good time.  Why not plan a fall get together  for your family, Lucky Leaf has some great recipes to get you started.
