Holiday Gift Guide: Manitobah Mukluks - Review (And a Giveaway) (ARV $300)

I love handmade items,  especially beaded items. They are so classic and stylish and being a history buff I enjoyed  leaning about the history of Manitobah. So I decided that the Manitobah Mukluks were a perfect fit for my gift guide.
Manitobah History (from the website)

Throughout history, Canada's First Peoples wore mukluks and moccasins as they thrived in harmony with nature. As European settlers arrived, they too adopted our traditional footwear as a necessary tool for survival.  1630 The North American fur trade leads to the birth of a new people - The Métis.
1630-1870 The Métis establish their own identity, with traits of both Aboriginal and European people. 1870 Manitoba becomes a province of Canada; Métis artisans supply handmade goods for emerging markets. 1990 Métis siblings Sean and Heather McCormick establish a trading post in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Aboriginal artisans trade handmade mukluks and moccasins for the McCormicks' tanned leather skins and furs. 1997 The McCormicks register a Canadian corporation and begin manufacturing Aboriginal footwear. 2006 Hollywood stars are photographed wearing the company's products, creating interest from all corners of the world. 2008 Manitobah Mukluk's global brand office is established in Canada's Capital Region. International sales partnerships are created to meet growing demand. TODAY Manitobah Mukluks partners with Vibram™ to develop a high-abrasion sole for the urban market and launches a project to create business-building partnerships with elders and artists in Aboriginal communities.

Every Manitobah product comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, this is a wonderful touch showing that your item is handcrafted and made with care. Here is the description of the certificate of authenticity.

Our designation as a CAMSC Certified Supplier verifies Manitobah Mukluks as an Aboriginal-owned member company operating in Canada.

My Review:

I’m a boot fan, I love boots they seem to go with everything, they’re the Swiss Army knife of my wardrobe. When I was given the chance to try a pair of genuine mukluk’s from Manitobah Mukluk’s (http://www.manitobah.ca/) I was giddy with anticipation.

When I was younger I remember my father wearing old beat up moccasins, as slippers around the house. Now they were nothing like the well-made hand crafted gems that you can find on http://www.manitobah.ca/.

I was sent a pair of short wrap mukluk’s which aren’t just boots these are works of art. These mukluk’s are beautiful, from the suede to the rabbit fur and the beading on the mukluk’s I was blown away. The suede and the rabbit fur are SO soft, I found myself petting the mukluk! Manitobah is an Aboriginal/Metis owned company, which means they’ve been crafting boots since the 1630’s with that kind of experience you know you’re getting your money’s worth.  The boots are handmade in Canada, and are a quality item. My mucklucks are made of Cowhide Suede, Rabbit Fur  with a sheepskin shearling foot lining and are 9.5" Tall.

I wore my mukluk’s on Saturday and paired them with leggings and that combination worked really well together, I was impressed with how comfortable the mukluk’s were, we walked all over the mall and all around the stores and I felt as if I could run a marathon in them.

I also was very impressed with the Vibram™ sole, they are a world leader in high- performance rubber soles, and this just added to the ease of walking with the shoe.  So soft, so comfortable, so stylish, I noticed several ladies staring at my feet these aren’t your run of the mill boot’s you will stand out and be noticed when you wear Manitobah mukluk’s!

With the holidays right around the corner, I would recommend Manitobah Mukluks. They are a great gift idea for a boot lover in your family and anyone who loves Mukluks & Moccasins. Your gift will surely be loved, and I guarantee it will be a one of a kind gift for that special someone.

The generous folks at Manitobah Mukluks have offered one of the readers of Susan’s Disney Family a chance to win a  Manitobah Mukluks classic suede in charcoal (ARV $300.00 value) . This is a great boot that would look great on you! The classic suede in charcoal has wonderful suede, fur and hand crafted bead work, and I just love the cute pom poms.
