Based on the best-selling novel by Kaui Hart Hemmings and set in Hawaii, THE DESCENDANTS is a sometimes humorous, sometimes tragic journey for Matt King (George Clooney) an indifferent husband and father of two girls, who is forced to re-examine his past and embrace his future when his wife suffers a boating accident off of Waikiki.  The event leads to a rapprochement with his young daughters while Matt wrestles with a decision to sell the family’s land handed down from Hawaiian royalty and missionaries.

What I thought:

This movie was one of the best movies I have seen in years, it is no surprise that this was nominated for five Academy Awards and won for Best Adapted Screenplay.

I am amazed that George Clooney did not win the best actor Oscar, just amazed. He was so wonderful in this movie he really played the roll well.  Well he is a winner in my eyes.

Just to have your life turned upside down like that is a horrible thought.  And the movie really makes you think…

This movie really moved me, I have to say I just started crying and was really tearing up at the end. I will not spoil the ending for you, you have to watch this movie for yourselves.  On a lighter note if you are a George Clooney fan, this movie shows that he is just getting more distinguished with age, he is so very handsome. And the setting of the movie with the Hawaiian scenery is just amazing. It is just breathtaking. I would love to take a trip to the islands one day.

I would recommend this film for movie buffs, it is a great movie that you will want in your collection. The Dvd is available now, so make sure to pick this up.
