Karina Dresses – Review (And a Giveaway)

Are you searching for a fashionable and easy to wear and take care of dress?  Well I would like to introduce you to a great company, Karina Dresses, a place where dresses that are stylish easy to wear and take care of actually exist.  Here is a little more information about the owner of this amazing dress company, Karina Cousineau (from the website)

Karina Cousineau began her professional career as a lemonade entrepreneur at the tender age of seven. A practical gal, she grew up believing in the virtues of hard work and strong moral fiber. Despite all this, she chose a career in the fashion industry, where she toiled for 25 long years.

In 2007, she launched a little dress company from her home in Upstate New York with the vision of creating dresses for every woman. After working in production and design, Karina felt there was a real need for a fashion line that makes every “body” feel and look great, no matter what shape or size. She believes in the innate beauty of women when they accept and love themselves as they are.   Handmade in New York City from limited edition fabric, Karina Dresses are both classic and fashion-forward. Through an ongoing dialogue with storeowners and clients, Karina creates a feeling of a custom collection with great attention to fit, quality and style. Additional features of the dress also speak to the special needs of customers seeking travel and maternity clothes.

I was very fortunate to be able to review a lovely dress from Karina Dresses.  I was sent the stylish Megan (http://karinadresses.com/megan) style dress in a great Blue Ditsy Flowers pattern.

As a working mother I have to get dressed up for work, it is just a way of life. My life may be hectic and busy, but I would not have it any other way.  I love to be comfortable, and work clothes and comfort sometimes they just do not go together.  I was very fortunate to be able to do a review for Karina Dresses, I could not wait for the dress to arrive.

As soon as the dress arrived, I was amazed at the high caliber quality of the dress. The dress was made with a [unique, plush, silky etc] microblend fabric, it is machine washable.

The dress is made with care, and it is a quality item. I love that this was handcrafted in the US. Brooklyn NY to be precise.
I love the ¾ sleeves on the dress, it is a great look for me.

I wore it to work the next day, I could not wait to show off this lovely dress.  The dress felt great on, I was able to travel to work (via multiple public transportation sources) with ease, the dress fit in all the right places, hugged my curves just right.

It is so very cold in my work place (they run the air conditioning year round, and yes when it is 28 degrees outside, the air is on, why?) so you can frequently see me in sweaters, I love my sweaters sure, but it is nice to have an option of not having to wear the sweater. With the ¾ sleeve dress I was able to wear this with no problems, the sleeves covered just the right amount for me to be comfortable.

While wearing this dress I got quite a few complements on it from my coworkers, they loved the shape of the dress and the flowers.

The selection and styles of dresses are constantly changing. The patterns, and some limited editions are limited because the dresses are produced in small batches right in their Brooklyn facility. The dresses are made to fit up to a size 20. Made for women from age 18 to 80, it is basically a dress that will be great for every woman, from younger to older, smaller and bigger sizes. Katrina wants to celebrate every age and size.  To purchase a dress, shop the site and find a style you love. They have v neck styles, ruffles, high necks, and much more. Just choose the style that works for you, and even though the print may not be available (because they are made in small batches) don’t worry there will be awesome print that they will have that you will love.

The dresses would be great for traveling, they fold up nicely and can be stored easily with little to no wrinkles. I am looking forward to bringing this dress along for our next Disney vacation in May. The dresses were touted as 'the perfect travel dress' in a recent Travel + LeisureMagazine blog post. This will be the perfect dress for a nice night out with my husband after a day at the parks.

I was very impressed at how easy this dress was to clean, just machine wash it. Yes no dry cleaning needed. As a busy mom, I just have no time to visit the dry cleaner, I would rather spend the time I have playing with my daughter. So now with this dress I have that extra free time.  But would the dress hold up after the wash? I have had clothing that said it was machine washable and it was not…. well it should not have been. I am happy to say this Karina Dress was just fine in the washer, no shrinkage and no fading even after a few washes. I see this dress being around for a good while, it is made well. I just love it!

There are some other things I love about this dress as well, this dress is made right here in the United States, that is a great thing.  I feel that my grandmother and I could wear this dress, don’t think of that as a bad thing! Oh no, I think it is wonderful that this dress would look just as good on my 75 year old grandmother as it does on me. This is a classic style, that works wonders on your figure, and works with all ages.  You can wear this dress during pregnancy, and after, now that is a great value.

So if you are looking for a dress that will fit your curves, and will look great even if you have no curves. If you are 20 and just starting in the work force, this is a great dress for you, or if you are a stylish 80 year old grammy this will still look great. The dresses are $160 you really get what you pay for though. This dress it a great investment.  Because Karina is “Celebrating women 18 to 80 easy wear, easy care”.
