Sample Flights of Warm Drinking Chocolates From Around the World at The Hershey Story in #HersheyPA

*** I received lodging and admission to the park for the subject matter contained in this post, all opinions are 100% my own***

Have you ever planned a visit to the Hershey Story while you are in Hershey PA? This fun and informative museum is great for the whole family. Learn about the history of the man the chocolate and the town that brings you your favorite chocolate sweets. The best part is, if you stay on a Hershey property hotel, for example The Hershey Hotel, or the Hershey Lodge, you get free passes to this museum for your entire travel party.

If you are not staying onsite, no problem, the museum is affordable, tickets are only $12.50. During our most recent visit we wanted to check out an experience that we have never tried before and with the chilly weather outside we figured that this was the best time to try out the sample flights of warm drinking chocolate from around the world at The Hershey Story.

This is a casual chocolate tasting that you can do before you visit the museum or after. It’s simple just visit the counter and choose what type of tasting you would like? Would you prefer to try all of the chocolate available? Then you should go with the full flight, this contains a sampling of each of the countries that are highlighted for the day. There will be 6 rich and warm chocolate samples for $10.00. With the full flight 2-4 tasters can share and enjoy the sampling of the chocolate beverages.

Or if you so choose you can go with a ½ flight which is 3 samples of your choice of chocolate beverages, go with a mixture of light chocolate and dark chocolate. Or all light or all dark, it is up to you. We enjoyed a full flight and a half flight, the full to try everything, and the half to retry some of our favorites. There chocolates that were available for tasting during our visit were the (the percentage is the amount of cacao beans solid found in chocolate used to prepare the beverage) Hershey’s Milk Chocolate, with 33% Cacao, Chocolate from Mexico with 66% Cacao, Chocolate Venezuela with 72% Cacao, Chocolate from Ghana with 40% Cacao, Chocolate from Tanzania with 75% Cacao, and Chocolate from Java with 33% Cacao.

We were excited to try out tasting chocolate, this was something new to us and being huge chocolate fans of course we were up for the challenge. After we placed our order and were seated we started to read the map of chocolates that was on our table it told us a little about each origin of the chocolate we were about to taste, and before we knew it the warm divine smell of warm chocolate was in the air, and we had our tasting.  The chocolate was right at a good drinking temperature, and we dove right into the tasting.

Each of the chocolate drinks were rich and decadent. The dark chocolate drinks had that sweet intense flavor that you would expect from dark chocolate, and the milk chocolate was less strong and sweeter. Each were slightly different, and we savored for each of their different flavors and notes. We are milk chocolate fans in our house (I have grown to notice that either you love or are not the biggest fan of dark chocolate) so we very much enjoyed the milk chocolate samples, but we also liked being able to try the darker varieties as well.

We enjoyed the milk so much that we ordered a half flight just to savor the flavors again. If you have a child that may not be too keen on trying these chocolate’s don’t worry they have a great option for them… A make your own chocolate cup filled with warm milk and a chocolate star want to stir in the milk to make a sweet chocolate for them to enjoy.
We had a great time tasting these warm chocolates on a chilly day, I would highly recommend checking this out next time you are in Hershey PA.  Prices to indulge in the Full flight of 6 is $10 + tax and the Half flight of 3 is $6 + tax times are from 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays, be sure to check the website for tasting on the days you plan to visit.
