A chat with Deric McCabe “Charles Wallace Murry" from "A Wrinkle in Time" the movie comes home on Blu-ray today! #WrinkleInTimeBluray

****Disney is providing an all-expense paid trip for me to cover this great event, all opinions are 100% my own ****

Did you ever dream that there was more out in the universe to discover? With the movie adaption of the loved children’s book A Wrinkle in Time, you will find more dimensions then you could have ever imagined!  This amazing story is about a young girls extra ordinary adventures across space and time with three supernatural beings, including Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon), Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey), and Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling).
From visionary director Ava DuVernay comes Disney’s “A Wrinkle in Time,” an epic adventure based on Madeleine L’Engle’s timeless classic which takes audiences across dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and, ultimately, the triumph of love. Through one girl’s transformative journey led by three celestial guides, we discover that strength comes from embracing one’s individuality and that the best way to triumph over fear is to travel by one’s own light.

The film is produced by Jim Whitaker and Catherine Hand with Doug Merrifield and Adam Borba serving as executive producers, and stars two-time Academy Award® nominee Oprah Winfrey as Mrs. Which; Oscar, Golden Globe and Emmy winner Reese Witherspoon.
The movie is filled with action and adventure that takes the viewers on an extraordinary journey that is filled with imagination, entertainment and positive messages. The main character is the same age as my daughter and it was nice to see a strong willed young girl that was not afraid to fight for what she wants. I love that this film encouraged self confidence and embracing your individuality.

If you really thing about all that has to align up in the unverserse to make you possible, it is really amazing! My daughter and I were big fans of this movie, and were excited to check it out on Blu-Ray.  Storm Reid was wonderful as the struggling eighth-grader Meg Murry, she really made you feel for the character and was a great fit for the role.
Another great character in the movie was the gifted youngster Deric McCabe who plays the younger brother, while in LA we were able to sit down for an interview with Deric McCabe who plays “Charles Wallace” in the film. This little boy had so much energy and spunk, he was just a down to earth kid who was having a blast. During the interview started Deric showed us his best cartwheel, he was really having fun. As we asked questions he would shout out you, you, you... to choose who could ask the next question. It was so fun, and relaxed. Check out the fun questions we had for him read on to learn more:

Q: Who are your acting heroes?

Deric McCabe:   Scarlett Johansson (he has a bit of a crush on Scarlett)  and Chloe Bennett. They are delightful.   I haven’t met them.  They are hot and they love me even though they don’t know me.  So, that’s one thing.

Q:  Do you have any advice for kids who want to get started in acting?

DM: When you don’t get any jobs, keep the faith.  Yeah, I think that’s good.

Q :   You said you were super nervous and the audition process.  What helped you get through that?

DM: me?  My parents.  They did because they were like, don’t worry.  They may call you back.  They’re going to call you back.  And then the time where Ava called me, my mom was like oh, here, it’s for you.  And I was like, okay.  Hello, not thinking it was going to be Ava, and she’s like hi.  And I was like who are you?  She’s like, oh, I’m Ava, the one that was doing the auditions.  I was like wow, hello.  She was like I was wondering if you would like to work with me on A Wrinkle in Time.  And I was like, yes!  That would be great.

Q:  What was the hardest scene for you to film?

DM: The end scene.   I had to cry in it so that was hard.  Ava was like okay, we’re going to do this.  And the brain was super sticky.  So, it kept sticking to my back.  So, I was like thinking of something to try.  And the wardrobe person comes up and says hey, you have something in your back.  Can you stand up and get it?  And I’m like, oh, God, I was just in the middle of almost crying. This will just take a second.  Five minutes later, hey, you have stuff on your back.  We don’t want that in the scene.  Can I have it?  I was just about to cry.  Yeah, that was hard.

Deric with help from his acting coach taught himself to cry by thinking that is baby brother was injured... aww....

Q:  How important was it to you to be a part of this film being part Filipino and Ava wanting a lot of diversity?

DM:  It was really important.  Not only that, but it was really important to me in the film because not only am I Filipino but this is my first big role.   It was my first big role that I’ve done so, that was really important to me.
Q: Do you remember when you knew you wanted to be an actor?

DM:   This is going to sound really silly.  But I was watching the Avengers with my dad.  Hi.  I was watching the Avengers with my dad and I just saw Scarlett Johansson and I was like oh, I want to do that.  And I was like, and I’m going to meet her.  So, then I was like, I think I want to do acting.  So, they put me into acting and now here I am talking to all you mommy bloggers.
What was something Deric learned in making this movie? He learned the place where they keep their snacks. Ha ha, see I told you he was a funny kid...   Deric loved the candy and the popcorn maker because when he first met Oprah, Deric had doctored up the set popcorn with some butter and cheddar and Oprah asked who’s popcorn is this?  This is delicious. Derec was pretty impressed that Oprah liked and was eating his popcorn.

Deric was such a sweetie, even mentioning during the interview that it was great to see all of us nodding in agreement, uh huh.. haha... Well, that is what moms do right? I admit it I nod along when questions are answered...I am sure you will be seeing much more of this talented actor.  But for now, Deric is focusing in on school (his favorite subjects being lunch and recess... the same as my daughter) and taking things day by day. He has a great head on his shoulders and is full of positivity (which he says he gets from his dad..).

Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling fit their roles of these otherworldly beings to a tee! The extras on the Blu-Ray included the always fun bloopers. I love watching these and laughing along, seeing that even the biggest starts are just like us and make mistakes and even they can laugh about it.
The deleted scenes are great as well, I always like to see how the plot may have changed, or how things may have been very different if certain scenes were left in the film. We really enjoyed watching the bonus feature A Journey Through Time, with this we were able to take a close look at the making of the movie, with the cast and Director Ava DuVernay.
After seeing this movie my daughter was excited to get the book and see it how the author originally wrote it, she wanted to explore and see if there were differences, and to see if she loves the book as much as the movie. This is such a wonderful thing, when a movie excites you and wants to get you reading, that is a plus!

Overall we all enjoyed the movie very much and would recommend it, it is a great family film.  Have you had the chance to see Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time yet? Take off to Neverland! With the 65th Anniversary edition of Walt Disney Animation's Peter Pan, available on Blu-ray June 5th #PeterPanBluray

****Disney is providing an all-expense paid trip for me to cover this great event, all opinions are 100% my own ****

What can be said about a classic movie like Peter Pan that hasn't already been said countless times? Peter Pan is a Disney movie that has entertained us for 65 years and will continue to entertain us all for many years to come. My family and I were able to check out the newest Walt Disney Signature Collection release of Walt Disney Animation's Peter Pan, and it is more amazing than ever.  Peter Pan is the classic tale of the boy who refuses who just so happens to pop into the Darling children’s room looking for his missing shadow and before they know it their flying over London and off to have the journey of a lifetime. Along the way Peter, Wendy, John & Michael run into pirates, fairies, the lost boys, Indians and mermaids!

We get introduced to so many classic Disney heroes and villains in this movie from Peter and Tink to Captain Hook & Mr. Smee this movie is a classic through and through. But my favorite aspect of the movie is not a scene or a character even but the song “You Can Fly” whenever I hear this song I instantly become happy and I get whisked away to Neverland. Now the movie itself besides looking fantastic has a bunch of really great special features including deleted scenes, deleted songs, backstage looks and a features such as The Peter Pan That Almost Was and much more.
To get everyone even more excited for this release, I have some fun Peter Pan coloring and activity sheets for you, simply click on the image below and print out the sheets and enjoy!

Come along and join in on a visit to Walt Disney's Office and a Disney Studios scavenger hunt! To celebrate the 65th anniversary of Peter Pan! #PeterPanBluray

****Disney is providing an all-expense paid trip for me to cover this great event, all opinions are 100% my own ****

While I was in LA to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the classic film Peter Pan, we were very fortunate to be able to take a tour of Walt Disney's office! The office where Walt Disney worked for many many years. In 1940 Walt Disney moved his animation studios from the original Hyperion studios to Burbank, from 1940-1966 Walt Disney worked on the third-floor office, this is where the magic of Disney Animation was born. Where your favorite films were dreamed up, what an honor it was to walk through this amazing place.
How did this renovated office come to be? Years after Walt passed on, these offices were converted for others to use as their own… But before this was done the Disney Archives founder Dave Smith, cataloged Walt Disney's office. He wanted to preserve Walt Disney's office, by cataloging and taking pictures of everything so all would know exactly how Walt left it...
Did you know that Walt had multiple secretaries and multiple offices? Well, Walt had the offices for different reasons, when you walk into the room you start off in Walt's formal office. This was the organized office that Walt wanted to show the world. This was for more professional meetings and was always super neat and clean.
The office was filled with items collected from around the world from Walt’s travels or from gifts. One of the items that stuck out for me was this tiny birdcage that Walt found in New Orleans, the birds would sing and move… This very bird cage helped Walt come up with the idea of Audio Animatronics, such a little thing that turns on the imagination and leads to the invention that Disney is known for… so very cool.
Most of the offices are filled with authentic artifacts. Some items however the originals are in the possession of Walt Disney’s family members. Such as the hand-drawn pictures of Walt Disney’s daughters, drawn by Norman Rockwell. Reproductions are there in place of the originals.
There was a piano in the office as well… This was used to help create some of your favorite songs. Just imagine Walt and the Sherman brothers working together, coming up with a soon to be classic Disney song?

We were told on the tour that Richard Sherman came and visited the office when it was fully restored and sat down and played this piano, he played “Feed the Birds” from Mary Poppins, in honor of Walt, because this was his favorite song.
The more informal office looked similar but Walt Disney liked to have a separate space so he could have his paperwork or art lying around the office.  Walt's Working Office was filled with paperwork, rolls of paper and plenty of cool maps on the walls.

A sit down with Woody Harrelson “Tobias Beckett” from Solo: A Star Wars Story! In theaters today! #HanSoloEvent #HanSolo

****Disney provided an all-expense paid trip for me to cover this great event, all opinions are 100% my own ****

Recently I was very fortunate to be able to join in on an interview with Woody Harrelson, the Emmy Award winning, and Academy Award nominated actor who is best known for his movie roles in White Men Can't Jump, Natural Born Killers, The People vs. Larry Flynt and many more. Now Woody Harrelson is entering the Star Wars universe as Tobias Beckett, in Solo: A Star Wars Story and we were ready to chat with him about it. What drew him to the part? What was it like working with Alden? If he could be any character from the original Star Wars Trilogy, who would it be? Read on to find out more!
Photo Credit: Louise Manning Bishop / MomStart.com
Q:    When you play a variety of roles both on TV, Film, what specifically made you interested in this character for Solo.

Woody Harrelson: What drew me to the part?  I was in London and I was shooting, I did this movie "Lost in London" which I wrote and directed and I did that just before.  I was gonna go home and then they were like well, we want you to meet these guys Phil and Chris about doing this Solo…so I was like, OK, well you know, I was planning on going home but sure, let's meet.  We'll talk...
Because I felt like my family was tired of being told I'm definitely done after this and then … so I was scared.  Then I met them, great guys and then I did decide not to do it ironically.  Same with "Hunger Games."  Same thing happened and the same Producer Ali Schermer who's an incredible lady who would not take No for an answer the first time and luckily, she didn't take No the second time. And the No wasn't so much about being involved with this as just like I really did kind of say I was gonna take time off, which I am doing now, right after we finish the Press on this.  I'm gonna take the rest of the year off.

Q:    What is it about this character that sets it apart from any other character you've portrayed?

WH:    I wouldn't say that far distant.  I have played other scoundrels and thieves and criminals before so but none in Space.

A chat with Phoebe Waller-Bridge who plays the sassiest female droid, "L3-37" from Solo: A Star Wars Story, in theaters 5/25/18! #HanSoloEvent #HanSolo

****Disney provided an all-expense paid trip for me to cover this great event, all opinions are 100% my own ****

Only 2 more days until Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters, I am excited to see this again with my family, to get you even more excited to see the film I have a great interview to share with you all. Recently in LA we sat down for a chat with the talked writer and actor, Phoebe Waller-Bridge. I never had the chance to talk to a droid before… so this was pretty cool… Read on to learn more about how it was to play L3-37, Star Wars sassiest droid.
Q:   I read that prior to being cast for this role that you didn't know anything about Star Wars?

PWB:  I did know about Star Wars.  I hadn't seen any of the films.  I think there's, five of us in the world! Which I think in some ways might've worked in my favor.  Especially from the droid perspective, because I was very loose in the audition with the idea of what a droid was. They were, like, "Wow, you're taking the story thing very lightly."  And I'm like, "Oh.  Is she not a person?"  I loved the film so much.  I'm completely obsessed now.
Q:    You were actually in costume and acting along with the characters.  Tell us about that process of putting on the costume?

PWB:   I had loads of fittings.  I mean, the weirdest thing is, you get a kind of scan at the very beginning.  I got a scan of my whole body, and then they'd build a complete replica of your body.  Then they'd build this suit around it, so it fits perfectly.  I had, this green suit, skin-tight, really attractive, green, leotard.  Then, on top of that, I had the kind of legs drilled onto me, and the arms, and the chest plate, and then the head. It was amazing, but it was heavy.  It was the first time that they'd created a droid that kind of move properly and be more flexible.  I could move all of my joints.  Because she's a self-made droid, so she created herself to be...as flexible, bigger, faster, stronger, than any other droids that she would've met.

Exclusive interview with Joonas Suotamo “Chewbacca” in Solo: A Star Wars Story in theaters 5/25! #HanSoloEvent #HanSolo

****Disney provided an all-expense paid trip for me to cover this great event, all opinions are 100% my own ****

Recently I was able to interview the one and only Chewbacca, portrayed by Joonas Suotamo. This was such an exciting experience, Joonas Suotamo was such a presence, from his great personality to his physical presence (he was so tall!) he really gets noticed, and we could not wait to chat with him. How did Joonas feel about playing Chewbacca? Was the costume difficult to act in? How has playing basketball helped with his portrayal of Chewbacca? Read on to find out more!
Photo Credit: Louise Manning Bishop / MomStart.com

Q: How did you make the jump from pro basketball player to starring as Chewbacca? Tell us the transition and how you got the role?

Joonas Suotamo:  I got the role out of the blue sky came a call one day from the Finnish Basketball Association, who had received a request for such person who has blue eyes, is seven feet tall. Yeah, anyone could find that guy. And the casting was pretty desperate at that point to find one. They called me and I said immediately I’m interested. Didn’t take a second to think about it. Because we didn’t know what the role was. So, I just said, yes, whatever it is, I’m in.  I filmed a video of me playing a caveman, half naked in my old high school gym. Just for them to see, 'cause they asked for it. They wanted to see if I could do the acting required for the film. And then, four or five months it took to really go through the process. And at the end of it, I received a call, congrats, you are gonna play Chewbacca.
Q: Did years of playing basketball prepared you for the strenuous stunts and action in the film?

JS:  I think basketball certainly gifted me extra body awareness. And also the trips I made with various team and the national team of Finland and everything. I met so many wonderful players and people. And I grew, grew up to become a very social guy. And I have always observed movements and I have always observed guys on our team who run with a very specific kinda way, and I’ve always loved the fact that we are different as humans. And I’ve always tried to imitate in a very loving way my teammates and how they run.

And that has more than anything alongside with growing up with dogs and observing them when I was a kid but secretly prepared me for the role of playing Chewbacca. And on top of that, we Fins have a very rich sauna tradition. So, I can withstand heat exceptionally well. So, basically, you could say I was born to play this role.

An Exclusive Solo: A Star Wars interview with Paul Bettany “Dryden Vos” #HanSoloEven #HanSolo

****Disney is providing an all-expense paid trip for me to cover this great event, all opinions are 100% my own ****

In a galaxy far, far away… we had the chance to meet up with the newest Star Wars villain Dryden Vos… Ok really it was in the US not that far away in LA when we met up with Solo: A Star Wars Story star, Paul Bettany who portrays said baddie with such flair and believably. The amazing actor is also known for his many movies, including A Beautiful mind and The Davinci Code and he is well known for his voice role as J.A.R.V.I.S. and as Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 24 great bloggers and I got the chance to sit down and chat with Paul, to see how Star Wars changed his world, and see how hard it is to jump from being a superhero to a being a villain and much more... read on to learn more!
Q:  You said before the Star Wars changed your world as a child.  Was there a moment for you on set when you kind of went, oh, my gosh, I’m in a Star Wars movie?

Paul Bettany:     Yeah, there were many moments where I went, oh, my gosh, I’m in a Star Wars movie.  And I think because Ron and I were, newcomers on the block as it were.  Everyone else had been in there for eight months or whatever.  And we were still totally un-jaded by it.  And I kept elbowing him and saying, were making a Star Wars movie.  We’re making a Star Wars movie.  And my first day in fact, was on my starship. I have a starship and I was coming down the spiral staircase and a super chic asymmetric cloak I think you probably all noticed.  And an R2 unit went by me with champagne flutes on and I went, f-, I’m in Star Wars! And that was amazing.

Q:  How did you become involved in the project?

PB:  This is a hugely embarrassing story which I shouldn’t tell you but I’ve got to tell you anyway.  I heard that my old mate, Ron, was doing it and in 1977 I saw Star Wars, right.  I was six years old and it took me out of the gray, miserable 1970’s London.  London was really depressed in the ‘70s, by the way.  So, it was just to be taken away to that universe and it was amazing. Suddenly, but now I’m in the Avengers so I think there’s no way I’m ever going to be asked to be in Star Wars.  Unless Ron Howard becomes the director.  And that happened.  I literally texted him this, I said, I said, hey, Ron, have you ever spent long winter evenings, like I have wondering why you’re not in the Star Wars franchise? That’s a true story.  And he said, you know, give me a moment.  And, LOL, give me a moment.  And two weeks later I was flying to London to shoot it. True story…if you don’t ask…

****Disney provided an all-expense paid trip for me to cover this great event, all opinions are 100% my own ****

With all of the action and fun that surrounded the Solo: A Star Wars Story press trip, there was one that stood out from the rest, another thing I never in my life thought I would be able to do (besides walking the red carpet of a Star Wars premiere… so unforgettable) was being able to interview the child star, actor all around amazing director, the icon who is Ron Howard. It seem that all Ron touches turns to gold, he really has a talent for his craft. And we were very fortunate to interview the man himself. What was the most daunting part of taking on Star Wars? How does he feel to have a movie coming out around the same time as his daughter, is there any competition? Where there any Opie Taylor questions? Well read on to find out…

Exclusive interview with Emilia Clarke “Qi’ra” from Solo: A Star Wars Story #HanSoloEvent #HanSolo

****Disney provided an all-expense paid trip for me to cover this great event, all opinions are 100% my own ****

While in Los Angeles for the Solo: A Star Wars Story press day we were very fortunate to be able to interview the talented actress Emilia ClarkeEmilia is best known for playing Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO series Game of Thrones, the "Mother of Dragons". She also starred as Sarah Connor in Terminator Genisys, and now I am sure Emilia Clarke will be known for her role as Qi’ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story.  When Emilia Clarke entered the room she brought the sunshine, her smile was infectious and she seemed genuinely excited to be able to talk to our amazing group of moms (and dad..). When did Emilia become a fan of Star Wars? Does she have a preference, the stage or the big screen? How was it working with Ron Howard?... Read on to learn more!
Photo Credit: Louise Manning Bishop / MomStart.com

Q: When did you become a Star Wars fan of the entire franchise?

Emilia Clarke I wasn’t around when it first came out.  I wasn’t born then, but my brother was a huge fan.  So when I was little we would dress up as a Halloween. I didn't know what was going on you know. I’m like, “Okay, cool I’ll hold this thing and I’m like put some wipers on my head, but then when episode 7 came out and I went to go and watch that with him I became a fan because I suddenly realized what everyone must have felt in 1977 when it first came out.  The enormity-- like this is how a movie should be made. This is what they should look like, this is a blockbuster.  As soon as that happened I was like, “I need to be a part of this.  This is like how it’s done.  This is how everybody should make a movie.”  So it was kind of from then on I just watched everything and then now I’m here.
Q: What resonates with you about your character? Were there similarities between your personality and Qi'ra?

EC:   I think that Qi'ra is definitely a survivor. She does what she needs to do to keep being around.  I think it’s fun because what you get to see with her is you see her and Han from the very beginning, from kids. You kinda’ get to see a youthful like where they both came from, when nothing was too serious you know what I mean?  They were just surviving and Bonnie and Clyding their way out.  He’s now separated and you see her later on in life. She’s lived a huge amount in the short time that we don’t see her.  And I had to grow up really quickly.  Again this was my first job and then you know literal Baptism by Fire. So I in that so like how much you know you just gotta’ hustle, you gotta’ up grow up real quick.  So I think that was a bit of that that I got, but not to the level of her at all.
Photo Credit: Louise Manning Bishop / MomStart.com

Q:  Were you intimated at all at playing the woman who came before Princess Leah?

EC:   Well I just tried not to think about it.  I’m not gonna' lie. It’s scary enough like standing under the Star Wars banner but having that as well. I was like it’s before her so I don’t need to spend too much time worrying about... I don’t know you know what my next 10 years are gonna' look like.  So I can kind of step away from that.  I’ll let Alden take all that heat.  You carry that one honey.  It’s okay I’ll be okay.
Q:  How much of an influence do you think Qi'ra had on Han?

EC:    I mean loads, hopefully.  I think that those first relationships are really important and in shaping who you are as a person and I think this was a part of that.   Is that every character is a part of the character that we know and love that Harrelson played later on and every character he meets kinda’ plays into another little lesson that he’s learned along the way that has allowed him to be who he is later on.
Q:  You do play really strong women. How do you want young girls to look up to you?  What do you want them to come away with?

EC: I get kind of do you play a lot of strong women questions a lot and I what I would love is we’re just women.  You can take strong out of the equation.  It just is what we are, strength is within us as women.  And that is it would be wonderful if for the young girls who are watching me play these characters now just see that as a part of being a woman.  As opposed to it being a choice of like, “Oh I’m gonna' be a strong woman or I’m not gonna' be a strong woman.”  You are, we all are.  You have it in you anyway, so just go get it.

Exclusive chat with Solo: A Star Wars Story star Alden Ehrenreich “Han Solo”! #HanSoloEvent #HanSolo

****Disney provided an all-expense paid trip for me to cover this great event, all opinions are 100% my own ****

Recently on an amazing trip to LA I was able to walk the red carpet of Solo: A Star Wars Story, and do some other great things, one of those things was interviewing the cast. I am always in awe when I get the chance to meet the talent from a movie I loved.
Alden Ehrenreich who plays “Han Solo” is a smart hard working actor (as described by his co-stars) who sat down with us to chat about being the soon to be blockbuster movie Solo: A Star Wars Story. When Alden arrived for our interview he was a bit shaken up, literally moments before he was surprised by Harrison Ford in a previous interview session. Alden was still trying to compose himself, he seemed like a true fan, it was sweet to see. So how does Alden feel about stepping into the shoes of the classic character Han Solo? How was it on set, and what is his favorite Star Wars movie? Be sure to check out the exclusive interview below to find out.

Q:  How much of this Han Solo is Harrison Ford and how much of it is your own?

Alden Ehrenreich: Something that was really important to me was to make it feel like a real person, that you're watching a real person going through something. And you also want to feel a kind of continuity that he could grow into that guy.  I basically started by watching all the original movies, very early on, and kind of trying to just absorb as much as of that as I could, so that when it came time to actually do it, I wouldn't be thinking a lot about it.
Q:  Is there a lot of pressure to play Han Solo?

AE:  Yeah there's certainly more pressure with something like this, because it's so enormous, of course.  But the kind of pressure is the same as it is on any movie, which is you want people to really like it.  And the only recourse you have in the face of that is to concentrate on what you have control over. You just concentrate on your task at hand, the character you're tasked with, and your job that you have to concentrate on.  And… so you just try to pour your energy into that.

Review of the new Solo: A Star Wars Story, this is a must see for any Star Wars fan! #HanSoloEvent #HanSolo

****Disney provided an all-expense paid trip for me to cover this great event, all opinions are 100% my own ****

Never tell him the odds. As you probably know, I recently had the chance to walk the red carpet at the premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story. This will be a spoiler-free review of the latest Star Wars movie to hit the big screen. Even if you're not the most Star Wars savvy person in the world, most of you probably know that Harrison Ford was Han Solo in the Star Wars episodes 4, 5, 6, & 7.

This is one of two iconic characters he had the chance to bring to life on the big screen, the other being Indiana Jones. This is a character that is well represented, loved, and revered in the world of science fiction movies. The cocky, brash, quick-witted space smuggler is a well-known character, and in Solo: A Star Wars Story we get to see how the older version of Han we all grew to love was shaped.

Alden Ehrenreich is taking up the mantle as the scruffy looking (much younger) nerf herder. We follow the scoundrel on a series of daring missions across the galaxy, along the way he runs into a large hairy walking carpet that goes by the name Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo), (he is 190 years old!, not really a spoiler, this fact is in a clip from the movie) he comes face to face with a notorious gambler and original owner of the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs, Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover).  Phoebe Waller-Bridge who plays the droid “L3-37”, is a real scene stealer, I have to admit I laughed out loud a few times in her scenes.
We see Han joining in a band of scoundrels put together by Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson), they then run afoul of Dryden Vos (Paul Bettany) and the Crimson Dawn. That's just the tip of this fast-paced and fun action-adventure. This is the Star Wars movie we've been looking for! After the Force Awakens and Last Jedi, this is the exact type of movie we as Star Wars fans needed. Sure the movie is chock full of action, but it's also not as grim and dark as the last 2 movies and just allows you to sit back and enjoy.
I was deeply impressed with Alden Ehrenreich's take on Han Solo, he was very aware of who he was playing, this is a role that spans over 40 years and 4 movies. People will be ready to nitpick everything wrong with how he plays this well-known character. In my humble opinion, he nailed it. He was a young Han Solo, within the first 15 minutes of this movie I was hooked. From top to bottom, from the casting, the writing, the production quality, this is a fun movie.
It is also a well-paced movie, with Ron Howard(!) directing, and Lawrence Kasdan (Empire Strikes Back & Return of the Jedi) along with his son Jon writing this movie looked amazing on paper, it looks even better on the big screen. I really enjoyed this movie, and as I said before this is the type of Star Wars movie we needed now. Those might not have been the droids we were looking for, but this is the movie we were looking for.
